20/5/2016 20:23 | If you need to bribe you have no business doing business | ccraig69
20/5/2016 12:11 | Bribery is an accepted way of life in Nigeria and other places. If you don't play the game you don't get the business. As GBB says 'when in Rome....'. I had a friend who colour photocopied his driving licences for use out in Nigeria as they were regularly seized by the police. Had the choice to leave them or pay to get them back. The SFO are wrong or Seriously F...ing Offside. | scobak
19/5/2016 21:53 | I would like to see someone from the SFO go out to Nigeria (or any of about 100 countries that spring to mind from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe)take nothing with them, and negotiate a contract for anything. I think they would come back empty handed.... BTW, is it just me , or are half of the graphs on ADVFN corrupted this week? | wad collector
19/5/2016 19:17 | Or put another way, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. | gbb483
19/5/2016 15:02 | Crazy, we will shoot ourselves in the foot in this country. We are determined to punish our companies when every other firm carrying out business in Nigeria is doing the same or worse ( what were Camerons words?), by default if you don't then you don't win the contract so you can find evidence on any company. IMO the SFO should stick to investigating fraud in the UK. | rogerrail
11/5/2016 11:29 | Rolls-Royce despatches first set of engines as part of largest ever order from Emirates Wednesday, 11 May 2016 Rolls-Royce has despatched the first ‘shipset’ Rolls-Royce is providing Trent 900 engines and TotalCare® service for 50 Emirates A380s, the first of which will enter service later this year. Eric Schulz, Rolls-Royce, President – Civil Aerospace, said: “This is an important milestone in delivering the largest order in our history for a highly-respected customer. We look forward to celebrating Emirates’ first Rolls-Royce powered A380 flight and ensuring the entire fleet has a smooth entry into service.” The order from Emirates was announced last year and confirmed the Trent 900 as the engine of choice on the four-engine A380. It has now secured more than 50 per cent market share on the aircraft, in addition to being selected by the majority of A380 customers. Emirates recently confirmed that it will operate an additional two A380s that will be powered by the same engine with TotalCare service support. The launch of the Trent 900 received UK Government support and components for the Trent 900 are manufactured by Rolls-Royce facilities across the UK including Sunderland, Bristol, Ansty, Barnoldswick and Inchinnan, Scotland. The Trent 900 is assembled in both Derby and Singapore. The Trent 900 powered the first commercial A380 in 2007 and is now used by eight operators on more than 70 aircraft, having logged nearly five million in-service flight hours. The engine offers the lowest lifetime fuel burn, with the latest version including technology developed for the Trent XWB and Trent 1000 engines. | standish11
10/5/2016 21:25 | The Type 26 will have RR Gas turbine and diesel generators. Is RR making generators as well? Type 26 is replacing T23 and smaller ships. Hope they are building sufficient. If we leave the EU, we won't have to ask Brussels permission to build ships in UK are have to tender throughout Europe if we do not want to. That process takes ages and adds to costs. | dafrog

10/5/2016 18:23 | Rolls-Royce has won a contract from BAE Systems to supply low-emission diesel engines for the Royal Navy's new Type 26 anti-submarine warships. Rolls-Royce's MTU subsidiary has been charged by BAE with manufacturing four diesel generators for the first three ships initially. | standish11
03/5/2016 12:43 | Rolls Royce to design and make ships is great considering its history. Rolls Royce took over the once mighty Vickers almost 20years ago. Vickers marine power merged with RR. marine power to form their large marine power division. | careful

02/5/2016 17:45 | Friday, 29 April 2016 Rolls-Royce welcomes the decision by China Eastern to select 20 Airbus A350 XWB aircraft, which is powered by the Trent XWB engine. The Trent XWB is the world’s most efficient large civil aero engine and more than 1,500 engines have already been sold to 40 customers. It powered the first A350 XWB aircraft into commercial service in 2015. Dominic Horwood, Rolls-Royce, Director, Customers and Services – Civil Aerospace, said: “We welcome this decision by China Eastern to select the A350 XWB. We now look forward to powering the aircraft with our Trent XWB engine.” This is China Eastern’s first selection of the Airbus A350 XWB. Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines already power 51 China Eastern Airbus A330 aircraft in service. Ends. Presumably Rolls are the favourite to get the engine order for the 787s in view of the improvements that Rolls have and are making to the Trent 1000 and its better reliability record than the GE option. | standish11

28/4/2016 17:09 | Hope this helps! 28 APRIL, 2016 BY: DAVID KAMINSKI-MORROW China Eastern Airlines has signed for 20 Airbus A350-900s and 15 Boeing 787-9s as part of a long-haul fleet modernisation programme. The airline says, in a filing to the Shanghai stock exchange, that it is taking delivery of the A350s in batches from 2018 to 2022. All the A350s are exclusively powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. Two aircraft will arrive in 2018, three in 2019, and two in 2020 before the remaining 13 are introduced in 2021-22. China Eastern adds that it will receive the 787-9s over the period from 2018 to 2021. It has not given an engine selection for the Boeing jets. Four 787s will be delivered in 2018, followed by six in 2019, and the other five in 2020-21. The long-haul renewal restores a commitment to the 787 lost in 2011 when China Eastern ditched a 787 order in favour of the 737. As part of the fleet upgrade programme the carrier is to withdraw 12 Airbus A330s and six Boeing 767s from service. It values the A350 deal at just under $6 billion and the 787 agreement at $3.9 billion, but says that the airframers have granted significant concessions. | standish11
28/4/2016 17:03 | Very strong today, long may it continue. Time for a few announcements from RR about more orders to help keep the momentum going all the way back up to a tenner a share :-) | tlobs2

28/4/2016 11:26 | betman You get the C shares in an ISA or SIPP if the RR shares are held there. | minerve
28/4/2016 11:08 | Apologies if this is an "old hat" question My understanding is that RR doesn't pay a cash divi, but issues C shares. These can be sold for cash. It appears that the C share sale is treated under CGT rules and not income tax so no income tax is payable on the effective divi ?? If you are under the £11k CGT limit then the "divis" are tax free ?? Is there nay implication if the shares are held in an ISA ? Can the C shares be held in an ISA ? This seems like a huge anomaly and if all companies did this you can avoid income tax which could be interesting with new £5k limit | betman
