06/1/2017 09:27 | Phatprophet. I was encouraged by the CEO's comments in the Telegraph re RR's medium/long term prospects. The concentration on my improving efficiency and cash flow are clearly his main focus and I am confident he will succeed in his aim. He mentioned that they have orders for 1600 XWB engines so any other productivity improvements that can be achieved in their manufacture will have a significant impact on profitability bearing in mind the sterling/dollar exchange rate. I am a very long term holder. | standish11
05/1/2017 21:58 | Standish- many analysts have got near enough £5 targets for RR. What does that say???In these scenarios, bid rumours can turn an easy short into mince meat.Good LuckP | phatprofit
05/1/2017 15:21 | That make Standish..they get benefit of service contracts to make even at dome point then profit. A lot of engines!! | sandeep67

30/12/2016 17:52 | December 29, 2016Bookmark and Share Emirates said it has reached agreement with Rolls-Royce over an issue affecting Trent 900 engines for the airline’s Airbus A380 order. Emirates also confirmed it had taken delivery of its first Rolls-Royce-powered A380 with another two due before the end of the year. Emirates ordered Trent 900s to power 50 A380s in a 2015 deal worth USD$9.2 billion at list prices. | standish11
28/12/2016 01:13 | The switch to Rolls-Royce was understood to bring efficiency and other improvements. The deal with the British engine manufacturer was penned in April 2015 and reported to be worth USD9.2 billion, plus a through-life maintenance contract. | alphahunter
17/12/2016 20:31 | Is there any reason why that 8ell end PhatProfit keeps posting on here? From what I have read he has nothing to add to the debates either technically or commercially. Probably the last that we hear from him after his short was stopped out last week ;-) | tlobs2
16/12/2016 10:28 | Interesting article on why the UK needs to back RRs bid to build next generation of nuclear power plants. Personally I am fed up with ministers bemoaning the productivity gap between UK workers and the other "industrialised" countries when in fact it is the lack of high value added industry as a direct result of government policy over decades that is the root of the problem. | rogerrail
16/12/2016 09:47 | Catch the hide tide wad otherwise you are likely to miss the boat! Get in for under £7 while you can.. | joemillion

13/12/2016 14:13 | I agree with careful. A great long-term hold and nicely diversified in its business if it can keep them well funded. I hope the marine side sees it through. This stock is reasonably highly regarded because generally the consensus is that it should be trading lower. If you want to become a shareholder you have to pay over-value now and wait for the uptick because it will be difficult to gauge when that is going to happen and there is obviously good support for the stock. I wonder if Value Act are playing part in its support at these levels? | minerve
13/12/2016 14:12 | careful or even what would Honeywell give to buy it, they offered over 1.6 x sales for United. | rogerrail
13/12/2016 13:55 | I suppose it will ultimately depend on how much cash Rolls generates rather than what the accountancy profession/Rolls consider to be profits. | standish11
13/12/2016 13:12 | How do we value a world class company like RR.? A turnover of $17bn is $340bn over the next 20 years. Wages for skilled employees, suppliers..the whole economy benefits. What would United technologies or the Chinese give to buy it? As far as PE goes, think of Amazon on a PE of 314 if you want insanity. $15bn, todays RR. value, is dirt cheap for a company of this calibre. | careful
12/12/2016 13:51 | Rolls-Royce shares trade at 28 times estimated earnings, about 40 percent more than peers. To someone unfamiliar with its accounting, this might suggest that investors expect earnings to grow rapidly. But it's equally possible that investors have little confidence in those profits. Right now, the second explanation is more likely. | chiragmahe

08/12/2016 18:54 | Some more good news on the development front following on from the A350-1000, the 787 had its first test flight with the new Trent Ten engine: : The Trent Ten will also be the maiden flight engine to be fitted to the 787-10 : "Rolls-Royce says the decision to fit the powerplant on the 787-10 – which is set to make its maiden flight next year, for entry into service in 2018 – as a “great honour”." | rogerrail |
