01/11/2016 10:02 | "France will gladly step in where we might fear to tread." Exactly. I don't understand mentality of the British sometimes. It is like we never want to give ourselves a fighting chance. All that nonsense about BAE & Yemen. Yes, it's war, no one wants children to die or starve. If we didn't supply Saudi, someone else would. That someone else might not give a damn about the type of weapons used or their accuracy. We would loose any small influence we have in that conflict. That Labour idiot, Diane Abbott, completely not up to the job IMO. She appeases to the ignorant masses, without any depth of thought whatsoever. How many politicians could you see as real statesmen nowadays? It is laughable. | minerve
01/11/2016 07:34 | Panorama : RR SCAM | onjohn
31/10/2016 23:18 | Haven't watched panorama for years, nor the far-left newsnight. Sky not much better though. France will gladly step in where we might fear to tread. | dafrog
31/10/2016 21:46 | I was confused about the Hawk India reference. The contract is with BAES (because it is their aircraft), not with RR. All RR do is supply the engines.....and the contract is with BAES. Anybody clarify what the programme was on about RE the India Hawk contract in relation to RR? | ohdearohdearohdear
31/10/2016 21:33 | I agree careful. The issue here are the countries themselves. I agree it is immoral but you will find it much harder to secure business if you stick to politically correct policy. I don't understand what they are attempting to achieve. Sure we can have a debate about whether business like this should be chased and the consequences of not chasing it, but as soon as you start to place morals on business you very very quickly start to run out of options because everyone else is playing dirty. I would ask Richard to try winning an honest card game with a pack of 'stacked' cards. | minerve
31/10/2016 21:22 | An awful lightweight documentary. All instigated by a bitter, frustrated passed over employee who became a whistle blower. No mention of the opposition, what do they get up to? 'Commissions', or bribes are an essential part of the way business is sometimes done . But rarely do customers order the wrong engineering solution, despite some of these greasy intermediaries. Mention of a man being bought a leather coat is pathetic. A desperate, biased hatchet job. Not once did that idiot ask if such practices were standard within the industry, at least at the lower levels of operation. | careful

31/10/2016 20:30 | I am afraid that 'professional advice' which is how such payments are recorded are part and parcel of global business. To suggest otherwise is naive in the extreme and holier than thou. Totally agree with your sentiments Minerve. How is GB to undertake business with one arm tied behind our backs. BBC- get real. | scobak
31/10/2016 18:03 | Production at Hucknall needs to improve, more of a concern than Panorama. | finess
31/10/2016 17:51 | An investigation by the BBC and The Guardian has found new evidence that suggests Rolls-Royce was involved in corruption. Panorama understands that the company made secret payments of around £10m to an unregistered Indian agent. And the programme has found evidence of a suspicious payment of cash that may have helped Rolls-Royce win a major contract for engines on Hawk aircraft. Rolls-Royce says it has zero tolerance of bribery and corruption. It is illegal to pay secret middlemen to win defence contracts in India, but Panorama's investigation suggests Rolls-Royce paid the money to companies linked to arms dealer Sudhir Choudhrie. Mr Choudhrie is also on an Indian government blacklist of people suspected of "corrupt or irregular practice"'. I suspect that is a very long list! | wad collector
31/10/2016 16:53 | Worth watching, but if the "investigation" is on a par with recent such investigations by Panorama into other companies accused of similar behaviour, then it will be fairly lightweight (eg unsubstantiated). | grahamburn
31/10/2016 16:40 | 'How Rolls-Royce bribed its way around the world' Panorama tonight at 8.30. Doesn't sound very positive! | ashbox
28/10/2016 16:33 | "Rolls-Royce powers the world’s most advanced destroyer" "The world’s most advanced warship, the US Navy’s stealth destroyer USS Zumwalt, has been commissioned at a ceremony that saw almost 10,000 people join in the celebrations in Baltimore, USA. Powered by two Rolls-Royce MT30 gas turbines, and two smaller MT5S models and two mono block propellers, the USS Zumwalt is an all-electric ship at the cutting edge of naval technology." 24/10/2016 10:16 | "Rolls-Royce bucks pension trend with surplus and better benefits" "Rolls-Royce is boosting retirement benefits for 86,000 UK workers and pensioners, even as fellow blue-chip companies claim they have no option but to cut retirement promises which they say are now unpayable in full." 13/10/2016 11:38 | Thanks Standish - confirms my view that Rolls Royce is likely to gain more orders as Airbus rolls out improved planes with the emphasis on economic engines & passenger comforts. More businesses & tourists want to fly rather than other forms of transport so the future is bright for the aerospace industry. | jdb2005
13/10/2016 07:02 | Airbus’s first A350-1000 remains on course for a maiden flight in the current quarter, as the test fleet nears completion. The first A350-1000, MSN59, has been fitted with its Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines while the second aircraft, MSN65, is being equipped with a full passenger cabin. Airbus has painted the second -1000 in the ‘carbon composite’ livery which it previously applied to the cabin-equipped A350-900 test aircraft MSN2. The second A350-1000 will be used for cabin and air system tests, as well as early long flights and route proving next year, says the airframer. Per Flight Global | standish11

10/10/2016 11:28 | "Rolls-Royce got a boost on Monday after JPMorgan Cazenove upgraded its price target on the stock to 890p from 835p as it took a look at the UK aerospace and defence sector. The bank said it was updating its earnings per share estimates, mostly for the recent strengthening of the dollar versus the pound from $1.30/£1 to $1.25/£1." :-) | tlobs2
