08/12/2016 10:40 | "Emirates set to take Trent-powered A380 this month Middle Eastern carrier Emirates is set to receive its first Rolls-Royce-powered Airbus A380 on 16 December, after resolving last-minute technical hitches. Speaking at an event in London on 7 December, president Tim Clark said the outstanding matters with the Trent 900 engines for the Dubai-based carrier were “all done”. “There were some issues with performance,” he said. “But we have come to a satisfactory conclusion.” Clark describes the resolution as a “technical fix and a commercial dressing”, and confirms that the initial Trent-powered A380 will be handed over on 16 December." 08/12/2016 10:36 | "it" is a number of traders and investors that is greater than one, there is no "contempt" involved, investing or trading, it's about making money. There is still lots of uncertainty regarding Rolls Royce, accounting practice changes, bribery/corruption scandals, risk of profit warning, etc, etc. If things settle down the shorters will move on to a more lucrative target and we should see some stability in the price. | simongn

27/11/2016 14:24 | "The fact that Rolls took two days to correct the mistake and then sent it only to those who registered and so late on a Friday evening, instead of making a regulatory announcement, also raised eyebrows. However, the company played down the mistakes, saying that when finance chief David Smith presented the forecasts correctly. “The words were right but the slides were wrong,” a spokesman said. Rolls added that the mistakes were not deemed to be price sensitive information, and so the corrections did not require a regulatory announcement. " I would argue the fact that errors were made is price sensitive. Management need to have a handle on the business and at the moment it is becoming a bit silly. | minerve
24/11/2016 11:08 | Airbus has commenced the flight-test campaign for the A350-1000 with the variant becoming airborne for the first time at Toulouse. The aircraft, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, lifted off at 10:42 local time. It marks a crucial step in the airframer’s attempt to enter the ‘big twin’ sector, in the 350-400 seat category, following its previous development of the smaller A300 and A310, the A330 and the A350-900. 20/11/2016 13:00 | A very gloomy article in today's Sunday Telegraph highlighting analys' concerns regarding prospects for profits and cash flow . Rolls' response is more reassuring viz: Cashflow worries were dismissed as a “short-term blip”, with sales of new engines expected to improve the situation. A spokesman said: “The accounting change has no impact on our cash, nor on the overall returns we make; it just changes the timing of when we recognise revenue and profits. “We have been clear with investors that our core civil aerospace business is going through a period of significant growth, doubling the production of engines for large passenger jets, and that has short-term cash implications.” | standish11
