Hi Christh...if you hold RRS in an ISA and it's taken over by a foreign company your shares will be sold at the lowest price prior to the bid and cash returned to the UK government when Labour return to power.

After listening to full conf call And Bristow singing praises of top tier assets and synergies etc all well and good but why was this deal done when rrs share price close to rockbottom and congo challengesPersist.Smacks of desperation and trying to save a business.Could a premium not have been negotiatedOr at least waited for an improvement in s/p/gold price to broker deal

The question for Randgold shareholders is whether they are willing to sell out at essentially no premium to where the gold miner's ADS have been trading, which is near some of the lowest levels this decade. The stock has nearly halved since July 2016, so the bet is whether Randgold's equity can bounce back faster with the company's operations as part of a peer. That could be a risky proposition with Barrick down 80% from the decade's high and just half of early 2017 levels.

They ( Barrick ) used to hedge all their production but I do not know if that is still the case.

Yes our posts crossed.

It think it will prove to be beneficial as Randgold was suffering geo-political problems in Africa and this provides diversification.

Barrick is one of the world best gold mining companies if not the best and when the US correction in equities comes, which can't be far off, then the gold price will surge and in the past the share prices of gold mining companies have doubled very quickly indeed.

We are now tied to the price of Barrick Gold of course.
