During the past two weeks, I have been taking advantage of the relative weakness in price here and have accumulated a further 450 shares, between £57.25 and £60.25.
I think the recent low around £56.90 is probably the low we will see......…

WASHINGTON (Alliance News) - Gold prices were trading mixed on Monday, tracking a firmer dollar after US President Donald Trump threatened new tariffs on $267bn of Chinese goods and a strong jobs report reinforced the view of further interest rate increases by the Federal Reserve.


Spot gold was marginally higher at USD1,193.82 an ounce after declining 0.4% in the previous session. US gold futures were down 0.13% at USD1,198.80 an ounce.

Hi Tom, I don't hold atm.
Can't call the gold price, what I would say is the US economy
looks on the verge of overheating.
Aware there are a multitude of different factors that affect the gold price.

EI, I wish I had left it a couple hours as I could have got them 30p cheaper! Let's hope next week is better than last. Somehow feel there is going to be a push upwards in the Gold price, particularly if it can get to around 1220. A record number of shorts exist with average price of around that level. They desperately want to keep it under 1220 but the pressure is building. When the shorts begin to close, this will rise very quickly. Would not be surprised for it to jump to 1270ish in a short period.

Strong US non-farm payroll number , increased expectations of interest rate rises , not good news for gold.

True. But the falls are based on tiny volume which makes me think that this is not a broad sell-off. Totally agree that negative sentiment is driving this lower but the record number of shorts on Gold will start to unwind soon. Gold is likely to be extremely volatile in the coming months and RRS will follow.
Will continue to add if this falls lower as I am convinced that within a year this will deliver significant profits. Famous last words......

Another poor day for RRS as the share price drops around 1%. However the Gold price is virtually unchanged at around $1200. Sentiment is definitely negative and may be for some time. I suspect that we are not at the low yet. Maybe 4500p but who knows. Macroeconomic events could play a significant role in the gold price over the next 6 months which would have a direct impact to the RRS share price.

Henry, good scaremongering but highly unlikely. Let's continue this chat in a month's time and see if Gold is around the $950-$1000 point as you predict. I know what my money would be on.

I think we should see a recovery back to £60.
Market conditions in the US and problems with Trump politics will hit the US$ hard.

RRS is been heavily oversold.
A great opportunity to Buy and make a good profit.

Hey Henry the very steep drop that concerns you is no steeper that the Aug 2016 drop which bounced off 1046 support in Dec 2016 so not sure this is a differentiating factor here. If however we want to start talking about potential future interest rates rises, strength of the USD, RRS fundamentals etc, think these factors will have more of an influence. I’m not a chartist (so happy to be correct d) but it looks like 1046 on the monthly will provide support for now, if this breaks then it may well be squeaky bum time.
