COMM results before market opens and ARRS after it closes, I’m with you in thinking tonight or lunchtime tomorrow

Yes, I'm going to wait it out today and hope for a decent announcement after the close or else before the open tomorrow with the Comm results.

Well we have washed out some shorters and some profit takers and now it is looking distinctly like everyone else are sitting on their hands, which I would put my hand up to too. I cannot see any other probabilistic outcome than an announcement tonight else the odds etc will fall and some interesting rhetoric tomorrow from all. Edit - forgot to add that market would seem to be saying 60/40.

Well my shares are back to the value I eventually got when I had access to them after the takeover!
Is this going to be straight cash or a share/cash thing? Big CGT implications for me if this goes through before April!!

Currently in mid-Atlantic and watching CNBC on ship's tv and there is a ticker: 'Set top box supplier Arris reportedly in talks to be bought by CommScope for $5.6B'.

I think we need fractionally over $33 at the current exchange rate to get back to Christmas prices (£5 equivalent for Pace). $31 would be about £4.77.

Bashor, it'll probably take a while for the offer to go through...
I'm expecting a market crash, given uncertainty Brexit, US China trade wars, property bubble.. Wouldn't be surprised if those or Dubai is the catalyst...

I'd say maintain cash until clarity over Brexit...but ultimately your choice..

The best thread I’ve ever had the pleasure of posting on, so professional and informed for so many years through thick and thin, time to move on finally if this happens for me, retirement is looming and I hope to make the most of it, sleep tight

Well of course Arris have form in announcing a merger the Wednesday evening before a scheduled event (the Pace agm).

But given the leak I would have thought if there is to be a deal they will want to get something announced asap (and I suspect there may also be some pressure from the sec to clarify the situation).

To me that would mean Monday morning, given this is the 2nd weekend since the leak. While it is possible to spend months negotiating terms if there is no time pressure, once the clock is ticking I would have thought 2 weekends was ample time to agree key commercial terms or decide that a deal is not doable at present.

So here's hoping for positive news early in the week rather than a "no longer in substantive discussions" footnote to the results presentations on Thursday.

Edit: I'm assuming that due diligence had been completed before the leak. Otherwise perhaps the best we can hope for is an acknowledgement that the companies are in discussion.
