Reasonable week overall with everything gaining slightly. SIPP +0.28%, pot + 1.89% and the Virgin ISA +1.03% taking the YTD figures to +4.79%, +14.70% & +8.23% - just a pity the biggest one is the smallest gain!

Out visiting friends tomorrow and having the family round on Sunday after tennis.

Enjoy your weekends.

My SIPP finished up 0.08%, +1.21% on the week and is +13.64% YTD.

It looks wet and cooler tomorrow, with single figures forecast for early next week.

Enjoy your weekend.

Oh dear, just 1/7 for me this week. I clearly haven't been paying attention and my guessing has deteriorated!

Beautiful morning once the fog lifted, but clouding over now.

Meteociel are now forecasting snow for Morocco and Algeria, as well as France and Spain. This would be highly unusual for November. It is only a forecast but Meteociel are a lot better than some with their medium term forecasts.

Looks like we were lucky to get some cloud cover last night. Our low was 7.5C.

Ice has started forming at Kemi on the northern Baltic coast. Records going back over a century show the average date is 10th of November so this year's is a week early. That seems to tie in with earlier snowfalls and Arctic ice adds to the weight of anecdotal evidence that the northern areas of the Northern Hemisphere are colder this year away from areas protected by warm deep seas e.g. Western North America and Western Europe, even though those seas also looking like they might be cooling slightly under the influence of La Nina.

Hudson Bay Ice is a day or two ahead of average.

As is Eastern Arctic

Westen Arctic (Alaska) is still warm by ice cover but sea temp anomalies have been easing in recent weeks

It does not quite seem to gel with the Northern Hemisphere YTD being the 3rd warmest out of the last 138 years. Maybe NCDC/NOAA will cool as the year progresses and more cool data feeds in.

4/7 for me as well.

Foggy again here this morning, +2°C but it looks like clearing more quickly. A thinner layer today.

Good morning, all.

CBS missed Q3 forecasts due to falling ad revenue.

There have been quite a lot of misses in small and mid caps this week in the US. Is that outweighed by bumper tech stock results? Even if it is, is that good for an economy?

Slightly on the blue side of breakeven today. Not much apparent benefit from sterlings fall.

Worst value fallers : GVC -1.9%, MCLS -3.5%, LLPC -1.9%[xd], BT.A -2.6%, BEZ -1.5%.

Highest value risers : BLT +2.7%,PFC +3.7%, BRCI +2.3%.

2.5% better for savers, but these ground zero interest rates must have boosted my HYP .

Resisted the temptation to add either GSK or BT.A so far. Good day for BMS holders, xd today the payment is 5p, share price unchanged.

Broken cloud no wind Temp 11C, but good enough to get some tree pruning done but felt the cold even moving about outside..

Aye, but because rates have been below 2.5% so they will have to rise higher now.

I'm up +0.770% on teh day today (FTSE100 +0.900%).

Best rises: CLLN +3.93%, S32 +3.05% and BLT +2.74%.

Worst falls: BT.A -2.65%, LLOY -1.01% and PSON -0.85%.

Of those reporting today, BT.A fell somewhat while RDSB abd TATE both rose. I don't think that Base rate should ever have fallen below 2.5%, which is where it ought to be now. ULVR were XD today but rose.

The FTSE100 is now a gnat's whicker from its all time high.

+2°C this morning with fog and the visibility down to about 100 yards. The fog didn't lift until 2pm, and will probably reform. The full moon is shining brightly, so a frost is possible.

I think in order to have a material effect on the rising inflation rate, interest rates will have to go to around 4-5%.
Think about it this way, at what savings interest rate would you start transferring money into the bank?

Freddie, I would expect to see the next rise around February, assuming all things remain equal (maybe they'll discover more MP's have dared to speak to a woman without asking first, so they'd obviously have to go) ;-)

This is more like it

BP is rising and the LT chart is getting interesting. Somebody might like to short it.

The rise in interest rates is of note and the first of several to come. If the economy is near capacity constraints and inflation is rising then we could be quite surprised how far and how fast they have to go up. All IMHO.

A reasonable +0.34% for the SIPP with top risers BRCO, NG. & INTU beating off a few fallers, and the pot managed +0.43% thanks to LGEN, RDSB & AMS/MACF so not a bad day for me - if you ignore the falling £!

Might be catching up on recorded programs tonight, although I really ought to get on with my tax return!

+0.26% today with very little movement on the majority of my stocks. However the rise is just about enough to get me to a new all time high and +18.96% YTD.

Looking back through my records, I have managed to break through to new all time highs every month since September last year. That is a very encouraging trend and I don't want it to end. :-)

Dull with grey cloud all day but I did manage to get a number of house-keeping jobs done, which is good.
