Two stories but have to be brief.

Serious rioting in Nantes in France a couple of days back supported by five trades unions, protest against Macrons employment law changes. Seems like Macrons honeymoon is over.

Merkel failed to get agreement in principle for a coalition by thursday, seems like the free Democrats are up for it, but the greens want her to agree to shut down and close all fossil fueled power stations which she will not agree to because Lignite mines and miners are political supporters of the CDU it seems.

Talk that an agreement may not happen until easter. (personally - if it happens at all, IMHO)

So how does this effect Brexit negotiations? Ponder that.

LCG's downward trend is disappointing with all the shorters about in force again on certain shares. I would have thought LCG's spread betting products would be seeing good demand. Maybe they are but it will probably be some time before we see any news.

-0.1% for me, today. YTD +5.6% so not such a good week.

Sunny today, but it had no oomph thanks to some thin high cloud and some contrails. It did not feel warm out and the house did not warm up in the middle of the day. Maybe we're just into that time of year where sun is not always enough. 7.9C high and already a bit chilly again.

Went to the gym and even that did not warm me up. I'm performing better strengthwise than for a many months (maybe bike trips and uptake of circuits have helped - and only the one cold bug so far this season!) but stamina is still an issue. I'm giving up after an hour and feeling knackered. I might have to think of something to try improve endurance. Longer bike rides might be favourite but it's getting a bit too cold. I've not been swimming for a very long time ...

Wrap up and enjoy the dry weekend.

Bit of a shocker of a week, with the Virgin ISA coming out rather better than the rest. SIPP -1.29%, pot -2.69%, Virgin ISA -0.29% reducing the YTD figures to +2.57%, +9.79% & +6.73%

Going to struggle until the utilities pick up, that's for sure!

Enjoy your weekends.

Think I can beat that with UU. today Skinny, and I topped up with them this morning! Not too impressed with LCG either - didn't expect great things immediately but wasn't expecting a gradual decline! :-(

On the plus side, it couldn't have been better down the marina, with wall to wall sunshine which was actually creating some warmth in the total lack of breeze. The water was moving very gently as the tide was beginning to pick up pace.

Enjoy your lunches!

Aleman - I don't use it as much these days, but I don't do too badly:-)

I mainly use it to short the FTSE, but having sold my "real" IQE shares recently, I've been actively trading it via S/B

Like most on here, I am at heart, a buy and hold - often to my detriment!

On edit :- example being WJG today!!!

2/7 for me. And those were guesses. Not looking good at CLLN, which I still hold.

Just about freezing this morning. Nice marestails in the blue sky.

Nearly time to go out for lunch. Enjoy the weekend, everybody.

Hyden, not sure about coat but I'll be taking the fleece for lunch on board today. Beautiful sunshine but, as you say, just a tad chilly! We won't be letting the ropes go but it will be pleasant all the same!

Collectively NG., SSE & UU. account for around 10% of the SIPP and I figured a little more wouldn't hurt so a small top-up on UU. takes it to around 10.2%! Assuming those clowns don't get into power, I'll enjoy the divis and wait for sentiment to return.

Morning all, a lovely sunny day but the heaviest overnight frost so far this year. Both of my children thought it okay to go to school / college without their coats this morning but I asked them to think again. :-)

Unfortunately it looks like another Red day beckons and may result in my worst two weeks' performance this year. :-( I am just glad I sold down a number of my holdings over the past few weeks otherwise it would have been even worse.

Morning, all.

That must be doing well for you, Skinny. Most of us here are just buy and hold. How does day-trading work out for you? Are you one of the 5-15% that make some decent money out of it? Does it make significant amounts compared to your own buy and hold investments?

Cold start here. Ground mostly frosted but melting quickly in the sun. Cars were frozen last night. Thermometer read a 0.6C low but the only place I could avoid sun was mounting the box on a tree and that tree still has some leaves on it so will be retaining a little ground radiation. The lack of frost underneath it suggests my low temperature will be several points higher than the rest of the garden. The car showed zeroat times when driving around last night so it must have been a cold start in places.

Lake Superior has started freezing up. That is about 2 weeks early.

Oh dear, only 1 correct guess for me this week!

I see it's all utilities down this morning, hitting me badly. Nice update from CTO but they are joined only by BDEV as the two sole risers of any note.

Im glad I bailed on CLLN too, you got out a bit quicker than me MrP but still saved more than half my original investment. Looks to me they will either go bust or debt for equity wiping out PI's. Hope DF hasn't lost too much as he was still invested.

Off to a chess congress for the weekend, will check figures on Sunday.

Not good for CLLN this morning, sorry for anyone here still holding. Glad I bit the bullet with that one and got out while it still had some value, but still in my "big losses" pot this year along with DX. and a couple of others.

Morning All.

All this talk of cycling is making me a bit green with envy, I don't think ours have been out of the garage since the spring! That's most unusual for us, although we avoid roads we normally try to get out in our local woods at least once a week.

Bit of a shock to the system when I jumped in the Leaf this morning. I felt the roof when I fed the birds at 6:30 and it was wet so I didn't bother setting the heating, but didn't realise the windscreen was a sheet of ice!

I think AV. will be my only dividend this week so not much to cancel out the falls.

A much better day today, +0.40%. Yesterday is also re-stated at -0.49% after including the dividend from APF which I had forgotten about. This is very out of character for me as I keep a close eye on my dividends! :-)

TCAP is today's best value riser and CSN is today's worst value faller.

It is a good week for dividends, AV. and HAS are due tomorrow. Barclays are now much better at crediting dividends to my account on the payment date, which has given them a stay of execution for now.

I enjoyed a lovely day out with my better half on the bikes. We started off in lovely Autumn sunshine but it soon clouded over. Lunch in a country pub proved quite fortuitous as the heavens opened not long after we stepped over the threshold and the rain had cleared up when it was time to leave. At just over 27 miles in total, lunch should have been calorie-neutral, which is an added bonus. :-)

+0.14% for today. {FTSE250 +0.80%]

Highest value risers : BGO +3.9%, GVC +1.3%, TCAP +1.75%, NXP +2.8%,
STAB +1.9%.

Worst value fallers : CSN -4.3%, RTC -6.1%, IGR -1.1%.

CSN fall could be because the US yield curve is flattening, may affect returns.
IMB xd today fell to the equivalent of just 30% of dividend payout.
From todays report notice that SDV has a holding in KETL.

Min Temps expected to be 2-3C here, glimpses of sun after light rain earlier.

We're promised wall to wall sunshine for most of tomorrow with almost no wind from a 2°C start, which sounds perfect for a gently cruise. Sadly I can't see I'm likely to have the opportunity! :-(
