Two small risers, CNA and SSE, seem to be helped by lower long bond yields. All the rest were red but mostly small falls. -0.6%.

Lots of high grey cloud. Occasionally bright to start but turning mostly gloomy. (I thought we were supposed to get sun.) 11.3C after a mild 7.5C. Feeling like being a bit cooler tonight.

Notable gains from CTO, SCLP, SSE & NG. today but without back-up they succumbed to the long list of fallers. SIPP -0.16% BP., AGL & CNCT/ZOO and the pot -0.46% AMS, SGC & LLOY

I'm with IG and CMC and have been for years - there may be some better platforms nowadays, but they suit my needs.

Skinny,

Who do you use for spread betting? I played around during the last downturn and its time may be coming again.

My FTSE short is coming into its own - albeit I've been short in one shape or form for some time.

I added back the IQE that I closed yesterday - also tempted to add to CNCT.

It was the strongly lower opening on the Dow over the last few days usually followed by a recovery that I was getting at, however the trend seems to be getting larger ie the opening fall bigger.
Currently looks like a repeat of yesterday in form at least.

I am very cautious of this.

If Mugabe goes I will very happy.

All the talk of cutting the ends off fingers reminds me of the recent Daily Sport headline.

"Naked pumpkin carver chops off willy"

This strikes me as comparable to.

"Freddie Star ate my hampster"

Strongly lower Dow opening and the 100 seems to be following?

Well mine are up and down like a yoyo today, starting red then getting quite nicely blue but back to red and now almost evens!

Employed 18-24 year-olds fell from 62.8% to 61.4% while inactives jumped from 29.6% to 31.2% in just the last quarter. This rough 90k move in both accounts for most of the overall UK changes in both. That is a big change in the employment situation for young people. So what is going on there?

No, MrP, WGB still too expensive to go on my monitor list.

Most weather models seem to be forecasting cold and snow from next week to mid-December. Further out, thoughts also seem to lean to the cold side. Now, these models are not always right, but they are generating some interesting headlines.

Update on DX. services. They had several goes at delivering some stuff to a hotel in London but apparently couldn't find the entrance. Despite clear instructions and a contact number, they even sent a picture of the "wrong" entrance showing a height restriction. Fed-Ex delivered successfully at first attempt this morning with exactly the same info!

Long bond yields have eased again. Yield curves are a little flatter. Junk bond markets have had another small sell off. So, short rates up and corporate rates up, as investors seek safer havens, means borrowing for share buy-backs just got a bit more expensive. Some recent bond floats have been pulled.
