15/9/2016 10:11 | Brexit seems to be getting the blame for a lot of things which is very convenient for any business seeing a downturn. Not sure we are eating any less meat because of it, and properties are selling around here and at decent prices, but maybe CRAW & CWD are right?! The SIPP has recovered a little and is currently £14.23 up on the day so all is not lost! | mrphil
15/9/2016 09:59 | My under performance continues - taking a sound thrashing on the remainder of my CRAW this morning. | skinny
15/9/2016 09:40 | I was doing so well post BREXIT vote, however, last couple weeks have undone all the good work with CWD and TALK doing the damage. Not sure why TALK is getting trashed. wllm | wllmherk
15/9/2016 08:28 | Morning All. Well none of my lot are going xd today, but I'm still down! Starting to eye up SPD after recent falls, seems to be running at a pretty low p/e at the moment. | mrphil
14/9/2016 18:25 | I'm down -0.036% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.115%). Worst falls: TW. -6.62%, MARS and MKS, both -2.13%. Best rises: S32 +4.30%, ADM and AZN, both +1.75%. Funny oscillations in the market again. Maybe it's Juncker that is the problem, rather than Carney. DF | deanforester
14/9/2016 18:17 | Bucked the trend again. -0.3%. Rather cooler at 22.7C but didn't feel it so much as it was mostly sunny. | aleman
14/9/2016 17:32 | Have been looking recently as to whether to continue holding MACF as it seems to have lost it's spark of late. Maybe should have been more decisive after today's fall! Pot managed +0.03% thanks to AMS, LLOY & RR. but the SIPP suffered -0.24% due mainly to MACF but also FUM & PEW continuing the weeks downward trajectory. Lots of sunshine this afternoon, lovely having lunch on the balcony and the iBoost+ had topped up the water tank by lunchtime so have now turned off the boiler completely to see what happens. DCI Banks this evening which we will record to watch Our Girl. Can then fast forward through the adverts! | mrphil
14/9/2016 17:00 | -0.18% continuing the weeks downtrend. Worst value fallers : IRV -4.1% & IGR -1.8% 2 days running. CSN -2.6%, BEZ -1.3%. Highest value risers : BRSN +1.5%, SDV +1.3%, GSK +1%. Overcast until midday, then 28C. | blueliner
14/9/2016 16:28 | Usual issues: UK born people working in the UK increased by 253,000 to 26.25 million non-UK born people working in the UK increased by 367,000 to 5.40 million There has been a big rise in self-employment. Last time this happened, there was a TV program accusing the government of pushing unemployed into barely employed with working benefits to manipulate the figures employees increased by 356,000 to 26.82 million (84.4% of all people in work) self-employed people increased by 224,000 to 4.76 million (15.0% of all people in work) Less usual issues: Labour disputes rising. Redundancies rising. Employment growth slowing - still faster than GDP so GDP per worker/capita falling?. Claimant count rising. Looks like recession could be looming to me. The fall in sterling might just mean it comes a few months later. | aleman
14/9/2016 12:18 | Skinny, I picked up a chip on the windscreen of the XF a couple of weeks back and they couldn't repair it so a new screen went in - complete with heating elements, rain sensor etc! | mrphil
14/9/2016 11:59 | Well its been wall to wall sunshine here since the open! Currently @27°C :-) The windscreen stone chip that I picked a day or so before going away, has in the interim become a foot long crack. | skinny
14/9/2016 11:15 | We're back to a blue sky again now! | mrphil
14/9/2016 10:07 | Not too impressed with the forecasting this week. Still saying wall to wall sunshine for today yet we currently have total thick grey cloud cover and have had for the past hour or so. | mrphil
14/9/2016 09:57 | Thought our youngest seemed a bit subdued this morning, must have been up all night watching that storm! I probably wouldn't buy GVC if I didn't already hold but then I can't see too much of a reason to sell either, other than the fact I am not keen on gambling. Maybe that's enough of a reason to sell, but what to spend the proceeds on? Wish I still had all my original holding in AMS from 10.95p, that was a pretty good buy in 2006! | mrphil
14/9/2016 09:30 | MrP - "Would I buy more or buy the whole company if I had more cash?/Would I buy if I did not hold already?" are really testing questions I like to apply regularly. If I reach the point I can not say yes, then I start thinking of reducing/selling. It helps if you have something else you want to buy more, though. 14.5C last night. It was 22C at bed time but the skies cleared and the wind picked up so it quickly freshened. Despite the clear sky, we got a light show (no thunder) from that huge thunderstorm that we could not even see way off to the west. It must have been powerful lightning. | aleman
14/9/2016 08:41 | Morning All. The thermometer on our shed suggested "only" 25.4°C yesterday and to be fair it was pretty cloudy for a good part of the day so maybe that was correct. We even had a shower around midday which was the edge of a heavy storm which had passed across Poole earlier. A not too sticky 16.8°C last night and a beautiful start this morning. Nasty blister on the side of my heel which has now burst after wearing new trainers at tennis. Should have stopped playing earlier but I'm not that sensible! Aleman, re GVC I might not buy at these levels but then the divi is looking pretty healthy so I'm undecided. EDIT: ignore the divi comment, I'm being daft as the dividend has gone on holiday for this year. Maybe that answers the question! | mrphil
14/9/2016 08:00 | Good Morning. My SIPP finished down 0.24%. A quite amazing 34.4C yesterday in Gravesend and a lovely day forecast for today. | skinny
13/9/2016 20:20 | +0.2%. 28.4C even though quite a bit of cloud which is holding the temperature up this evening. MrP - I have two step-kids from when I married early. I have 5 step-grandchildren. Re GVC, remember the useful adage - if you would not buy it now, you should not hold it. | aleman
13/9/2016 19:47 | -0.25% for the Folio today. Worst value fallers : IRV -2.2%, PPC -4.6%, BLT -2.3%, BRWM -3%, BP. -1.9%. Highest value risers : GVC +2%, BEZ +1.3%, PEW +1.2%. Huge storm moving up the west side of England into Lancs & beyond, we are getting the outer winds. Any CLLN holders here:- Regrettably am a frequent visitor to both hospitals and have heard comments about the their service for ages. The local Trust is very exacting in its standards, CLLN should be under no illusion when they tendered for this. | blueliner
13/9/2016 18:30 | I'm down -0.490% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.526%). Worst falls: BLND -2.71%, BLT -2.31% and BP. -1.90%. Best rises: IMB +1.14%, MKS +0.80% and CPG +0.64%. The falls continue. I suspect that worries about the Fed raising interest rates are behind it. They should never have fallen this far. I see that CPI rose 0.3% this month. The year on year change stays at 0.6%, but that didn't mean that prices didn't rise. DF | deanforester
13/9/2016 17:24 | Aleman, what's this about grandchildren all of a sudden? "I must remember some of these stats next time I warn my eldest granddaughter about such things" | mrphil |
