Getting a bit envious of you expert tomato producers. We did have a reasonable number this year but it was hardly a bumper crop and we had no problem keeping up with them! All finished now with the last ones getting blight. But we are still picking plenty of raspberries, beans and even strawberries every day!

BP. a nice hold today!

Aleman - after a poor start, the tomatoes did really well - especially my new variety "Crimson Crush".

I also gave away 3 carrier bags full yesterday.

CRAW - what a pig in a poke!

Morning All.

Rain most of the night and still very wet and drizzly this morning.

Not a bad day to be fairly heavy in oilers!

Horrible sales trend at CRAW with latest lfl at -15.8%. What on earth made them think they could take on supermarkets with bulk meat packs? Added value is clearly the way forward - pies, pasties, stir-fry mixes, quiches, speciality meat cuts, experimental seasonings in sausages, cheese/deli - taking care not to take on Greggs and other bakers in snack food. Get people in off the street at lunch with cheap hot pasties, pies and sandwiches and then upsell fancy speciality farm food! People buy more food if they shop when they are hungry! Workers won't take meat to work so concentrate on pensioners, homemakers and weekend shoppers. It's subtley different in how you sell to them.CRAW don't seem to know what they are doing.

2 wok fulls? I thought I was doing well with a couple of punnets!

23.1C was the high yesterday evening. 13.5C last night.

Charts don;t always predict welll but the large triangulation in the oil price suggests a big jump one way or the other in a few weeks.

Good Morning.

My SIPP finished up 0.93% mainly due to PHNX and in spite of BBOX.

Another 2 wok fulls of tomatoes reduced yesterday and the last off the peppers picked for stir fry last night.

blueliner - nice problem to have with phnx. Will be a great stock when rates start to rise!?!? Less capital needed to provide the liabilities to policy holders.

Looks like a good deal, and i don't hold any yet. Will keep an eye on it see if there is an opportunity to get some nil paid rights at a discount.

England seem to have a problem with Football Managers, the Chilean miners were trapped longer underground than 'Big Sam' was in charge.

I'm up +0.946% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.613%).

Best rises: WMH +3.12%, RIO +2.66% and MARS +2.17%.

Worst falls: IMB -1.74%, INDV -1.20% and SGRO -0.49%.

Not a bad day, even if the Red Flag was sung. We had a committee meeting at the Sports Club where we hold our AGM, just to confirm the details, because their caterer has left. We wanted to be sure that there would be catering available in November, when we meet. All was well, which is a big load off our minds. A good chance for a pint and a natter in the sun.

We started at 12°C and got to about 20°C by lunchtime. Some high cloud initially which cleared away very quickly. We got some washing dry very easily in the brisk wind.

SIV looking very perky ahead of next weeks results. It looks to be starting to fill a nice gap up, possibly. +0.6%.

Similar to yesterday. Cloudy start giving way to a little sunshine amongst the brightness and breeze picking up. No high for today yet as it is still rising at 22.6C and now warmer outside than in. 11.7C last night.

So they're not even going to assemble anything here now then, not even the tiniest bit British now!

Skinny, that's a fancy monitor! Of course, as we age, we need to go up in size and definition to continue operating at maximum efficiency! Go on, treat yourself!

Have a more pleasant headache after PHNX's RNS this morning, re proposed purchase of Abbey Life funded by a 7 for every 12 share rights issue. Well received by the market and allows PI's to parcipitate.
Looks an attractive deal from a yield pov, if I take up the full quota of rights together with my existing stake it will become the highest investment made in the Folio ISA.
Have a least got some time to mull it over, there are options.

We have done some digging around and it seems the guy is the Credit Manager at DX. so that's a bit worrying. From a business point of view we will definitely be using them less as I am not being treated like that, but for now I'll assume I am overreacting and we are an isolated case so will hang on to the shares for a bit longer.

So the world hasn't ended just yet then Skinny! ;-)

No email from the DX. guy so I'm guessing he's had second thoughts about putting it down on paper! Not sure if he had any authority or was just a pimply kid trying to sound clever.

Morning All.

We saw a high yesterday of 19.8°C between the showers and a low of 11.1°C last night. Felt quite crisp this morning ready for what promises to be a pleasant day.

National Treasure was good last night and certainly raises questions about how these cases are handled. I appreciate these are very difficult cases but I still struggle to see how our treasured "innocent until proven guilty" system can possibly work if the accused are named and shamed long before any trial. I won't spoil it for anyone still to watch last night's episode but there were some interesting developments!

Waiting to see if the DX. guy sent the email to my accounts manager as promised. I want to see how he approaches it in writing before I decide on our next course of action.

Keeping an eye on the pound to see how high we can get before grabbing a few more euros.

I'm down just -0.039% on teh day today (FTSE100 -0.152%).

Worst falls: RDSB -2.21%, BLT -1.46% and IMI -1.42%.

Best rises: PSON +3.31%, NG. +1.34% and ULVR +1.14%.

PSON made up for yesterday's fall. Deutsche Bank looks very dodgy. Miners and oils all down.

I've just got back from London. Caught one of the new class 700 trains going up, but a 377 coming home. It was a 12-coach one - 700107 - and it was an interesting ride. The information display is very different.

Had a great couple of months trading wise following BREXIT but much of these gains have evaporated in the last month. I'm sure I read somewhere that September tends to be a volatile month for stocks. HSD, ESNT and TALK did the damage today, at least CWD didn't fall again.

I see Allardyce has been sacked, might give us Scots a bit of hope ahead of qualifiers if England are in turmoil :)

-0.30% for me.

Ironically, I had a delivery via DX today and I took the opportunity to ask the driver 'what were the company like to work for' - he was probably marginally above scathing in his description - caveat being that he said that other delivery companies that he had 'worked for', were similar.
