29/8/2017 14:51 | Philips press conference is lunchtime 31 August... | bagpuss67
29/8/2017 14:51 | I wouldn't read too much into the QDEF reference - it's used generically now, although is a nanosys trademark. Samsung even use it - hxxps://pid.samsungd I would be extremely surprised if Philips are not using Nano/WH film - maybe why I stand to lose si much however! | howl01
29/8/2017 14:40 | If I was being cynical, the RNS did not say a OEM TV manufacturer had placed an order. It only stated that Wah Hong had placed a commercial order for resin, that could potentially be used by a TV manufacturer in the future. If Wah Hong just bought 5kg of resin for pilot commercial runs/sampling, then the RNS wording is correct. | luxaeterna1
29/8/2017 14:12 | Only three more sleeps and we get to find out. Do you reckon Phillips would want to taint their brand with Cd based QD film to save a few coppers? Doesn't make sense to me. | andycapped
29/8/2017 14:00 | Someone must be launching TVs containing WH CFQD film though. The first commercial order.... | balaura
29/8/2017 13:57 | I think you are right, bagpuss. QDEF is a trademark for Nanosys Cd-containing films. Probably heavily discounted from 3M around the time they have been discontinued. The next "enhancement" should be Cd-free. Philips 8602 4K HDR Quantum Dot Android TV By Riccardo Riondino , published on August 28, 2017, at 3 pm in the DISPLAY channel "IFA 2017 will debut the first QDEF (Quantum Dot Enhancement Film) Philips TVs: two 55" and 65 "Ultra HD Premium models, featuring the new P5 processor, 3-sided Ambilight lighting, BLU Edge LED units, HDR10 support , 50W soundbar and smart Android TV platform " | balaura
29/8/2017 13:17 | Not optimistic about the Philips TVs to be launched at IFA having Nano quantum dots. That would I think potentially be both Hisense and Philips launching QD TVs using dots from other suppliers when they were two of the OEMS who had prototype TVs on the poufs at CES many months ago.. | bagpuss67
29/8/2017 13:07 | andy very true. Opportunity cost is a price some aren't willing to pay. | boris cobaka
29/8/2017 12:57 | Can't blame investors for being cautious at present. Anyone who has a holding on this company will be well underwater at present, and I expect if they're thinking of topping up, they'll be watching to see just how low things go, and then asking themselves how long they have to wait before things pick up. | andycapped
29/8/2017 11:57 | That's a bit ominous this mornings share price behavior. After the clear break of 30p last week any final capitulation should have seen a decent bounce and then hopefully further follow-thru. The close on Friday didn't bode well and this mornings share price action is not what you want to see if you've just bought in hoping to have caught that falling knife... With no sign Lombard and Griffith have finished and big questions over income it's going to need some mega news to keep this above 20p imo. That dip to an all time low in this downtrend was perhaps a heads-up. | boris cobaka
29/8/2017 11:56 | Lombard Odier's NANO holding is clearly not part of its investment strategy after acquiring the Henderson team so I presume all its shares will be sold. It would be nice to have some decent news for a change so that buyers would want to take up the supply... | stun12
29/8/2017 10:47 | Lombard Odier reducing again. | andycapped
28/8/2017 21:44 | extract from the Yole Development Report: In 2017, demand for QDs is dominated by Samsung. After the demise of pioneer QD-Vision, whose intellectual property was acquired by Samsung in 2016, Nanosys and Hansol are the only QD manufacturers supplying high volumes in 2017. This could change rapidly however as many more TV makers adopt QDs. Nanoco and its new film partner Wah Hong seem closer than ever to scoring a design win. Quantum Materials in the US and NS Materials in Japan are other credible outsiders. In the fast-growing Chinese display industry, local QD maker Najing Tech is partnering with key manufacturers, accelerating the development of QD films and EL-QD and preparing to ramp up manufacturing. | howl01
28/8/2017 20:58 | These aren't prototypes anymore. According to the following article, they have already set the pricing for the 55 and 65 inch TVs and they are gearing up for the Xmas buying period. That suggests to me that the Qdots are now being supplied commercially. hxxp://www.4kfilme.d | ghaon
28/8/2017 13:08 | You know sun is shining and below is the opening para on the blurb for the Samsung conference where Nano are the only manufacturer presenting. Seems clear it is a samsung conference where they have been invited. Am I being an optimist seeing the positive ? This event is a unique opportunity to learn about quantum dot technology and future display architectures, hear the full scope of the Samsung’s plans for quantum dot (QLED) displays and its full HDR10/HDR10+ ecosystem activities. Samsung presenters will be complemented by other industry partners and experts and there will be a number of demos to showcase technology. | peterm10
28/8/2017 03:41 | Time to leave the pub Syd...you have had to much again.say bye to ME and sleep it off. This nightmare investment of yours will still be there when you sober up unfortunately. | ih_169538
28/8/2017 01:35 | QMC has recently started to sell to Apple,IBM,LG,Samsung | syd7777

26/8/2017 18:08 | We won't know for sure until we see production ready sets, or at least pre-production sets, or it's confirmed in an RNS. However you know as well as I that Nanoco dot based film have been displayed in both TCL and Hisense prototype sets, which is a very strong indicator that they are more than a little casual about using their dots. | andycapped |
