02/7/2009 19:32 | pherrom - contact you broker and tell tham that you want to go to the AGM and vote your holding. Your broker will issue you with a document appointing you as their proxy in respect of the shares that you hold. You can go to the meeting and vote with this. I have done it myself several times with several stocks - no worries. Your broker shouldn't charge you for the privilige. | lord gnome
02/7/2009 10:29 | Pherrom As far as I know - you can't | countryboy

29/6/2009 02:48 | From the same page 24: "Record date for entitlements under the Rights Issue for Qualifying CREST Shareholders and Qualifying Non-CREST Shareholders: close of business on 1 July" Unlike dividends, where the ex-date always occurs before the record date, the reverse often seems to be the case with rights issues. I think this means that purchasers of the shares on 2-6 July are entitled to the rights, but won't get them automatically (because they're not on the register as of CoB 1 July). Conversely, sellers 2-6 July will probably be allocated nil-paid rights they aren't entitled to (because they are on the register at CoB 1 July). | stevefoster
28/6/2009 08:07 | gbb483 I suggest you to the Marstons web site and download the prospectus (see link below), then go to page 24 of the prospectus and you will see it in black and white Existing Shares marked "ex-rights" by the London Stock Exchange: 8.00 a.m. on 7 July QED | timbo003
28/6/2009 07:51 | Read the news article above titled "Proposed Rights Issue", and you'll see that it is you that is confused. Particulary as the 'ex-dividend' date was 3rd June and its due to be paid on Tuesday. You can take a horse to water .... | gbb483
28/6/2009 07:47 | mesquida, you are indeed correct. The EGM is on July 6th (to approve, [or not approve] the rights issue) so the shares cannot possible go ex-rights before then. It sounds like the EGM might be a lively affair and the rights issue may not be a foregone conclusion (see article below) | timbo003
27/6/2009 10:37 | You are confusing this with the timetable for a dividend payment - the dealings on an ex-rights basis definitely do not begin until July 7th. | mesquida
27/6/2009 08:58 | Record date for the rights is July 1st, so they will go ex-rights 2 trading days before that, which will be Monday 29th. The rescaled share price will be 87-88p. | gbb483
27/6/2009 07:13 | I'm watching and waiting on MARS, I will not buy until after they go ex-rights (July 7th), I'm impressed by the recent director buying and the directors commitment to take up their rights. Meanwhile, I found this in the Morning Advertiser which is an interesting read | timbo003

06/6/2009 12:43 | Morning all, I work for Marstons and have done for a few years now. At the end of last year things were v tight the share price dropped to 80p and the company was suffering. Since then a few changes were made, dead wood was offloaded at head office level and they had a good look at themselves and what they were about. They went down the food route and added a few offers on food and liquor over the hard times and it has paid off. Sales have been well above expectation over the last 2 months and with a decent summer will be flying again. The company share save sheme begins again v soon and at these prices i will be going for the full quota!! Would have been nice to have come around when they were 80p no such luck but £1.70 with a 20% discount is good enough. I can see these back up to £4 and above in a couple of years.imho | mhw28865
02/6/2009 17:32 | Ex Div tomorrow. This and the previous final dividend are currently yielding a return of 7.8%. That has to be good for at least a doubling in the share price. | gbb483
