Even Mark Atkinson has had his fair share of disasters. On a recent podcast on KETL he said he had purchased more at just under a quid i think. Some of his first purchases were around 160p i think.

Price is now 59p...

He must have lost a packet on VID. He bought most of his shares between £11 and £15..

Just shows we all have 'em and you need to take it on the chin and move on...

But some traders never have any losses apparently lol..

He had me in stitches when he went on to say that it helps if you know your stocks and keep on top of their journeys - ha ha ha not just all wriggly lines then lol..

I own BATS. Bought in on 22/8 this year at 2535.54p. It’s flat for me but I’ve got a 57p dividend due to me. I bought in for the reliable dividend and prospect of share price growth from these levels. Whilst that happens I’m happy to bank the dividend. At these levels I think it is a sleep easy share. 9% dividend not to be sniffed at!

I've just been looking at BATS. I've never invested in Tobacco companies before, not ever but that doesn't mean they havent been good solid dependable investments over the years.

All the tobacco companies are not just cigarette sellers anymore. They are now arguably science-tech companies. BATS has just opened a massive research facility in Italy for example. Apart from Vapes, they have innovated new products like Nicotine mouth pouches and heated tobacco.

PE ratio is about 7 with a dividend yield of about 9%. It throws off huge amounts of cash and could arguably invest more in R&D.

I dont own it but i think i might in the future. A lot of these micro-cap stocks are just not up to the standard of giants like BATS..

Simon Thompson tipped ETP in the IC, on 31st August, today its fallen 58%.

Like you said, alot can go wrong with small caps all it takes is afew contract delays and you massively punished.

Some of these small stocks are very risky, you have to be so careful in your stock-picking..


What is the point of that England game at the weekend against Australia. A completely pointless friendly and right in the middle of the season. The prem managers are not very happy at letting their players play. If they get injured its not very fair..
