GRG 3rd quarter update seemed ok. Costs down quite a bit so that should help them.

SUS, another im watching, out with solid results.

Meanwhile my own portfolio continues its slide almost daily for flip sake..

Boo continue to struggle, but hopefully will improve over the next 12 months now with the new large American distribution centre opening up. Its a fingers crossed situation and hope they can turn it around, but I won't be adding any more, at the moment..

Sad to see shoplifting becoming a real problem. This is mostly not desperate people on benefits and homeless that are the culprits but organised crime that is sometimes violent.

Police dont want to know and convictions are few and far between. Sentencing needs to be much, much tougher imo..

38 retail stores including Greggs and Tesco among others now calling to the government to do more. A lot of these retailers are getting worried because its starting to show up in their accounts which up till now they've kept a bit quiet about..

Stamps prices up another 14% from tomorrow. Already up 16% in April. Royal Mail in trouble and the only way to compensate is by putting prices up.

Who the hells gonna send cards when stamps cost this much, no-one is going to bother..

You gotta be a card to invest in CARD Lol..

If you notice all the takeovers recently like FIF, RWI, ROR etc are good premiums but only vrs recent prices.....not vrs the average long term price where the takeover offer is way below..

That suggests in order to profit from these takeovers you needed to have bought fairly recently otherwise you have lost money..

I suppose when you hold 40 stocks you should have twice as many takeovers as someone with 20, by the law of averages..

I see RWI had a takeover bid. Apparently another one held by the master investor conkers lol..

Look at the long term chart though and its another one that has been a big disappointment for longer term investors with the shares at one point trading close to £20..

The offer is only welcome for those who have bought in more recent months.

It makes you wonder how conkers keeps getting all these takeovers. The only logical way is that you keep buying and selling different stocks like musical chairs where you suddenly find your sitting on one or it was bought ages ago and this is actually a loss not a gain..

Dont believe everything you read, some things are not always as they seem..

Now we face a probable US government shut-down from midnight Sunday unless a short-term stop-gab can be agreed (which right now looks doubtful).

We've been here many times before always resulting in an agreement being made at the 11th hour.

However..

..If there isnt of course then we can expect carnage when the markets open again on Monday morning..

I've got 11 dividends due over next two months, one or two quite big ones, that should keep me sane Lol..

I've got a stack of dividends over the next month including CSN and AV all will saved towards my next MNG purchase..

Having dividends flowing into my account helps keep my sanity..

I've got a feeling we will have a decent November and December. Also think with being a election year 2024 they will start dropping interest rates slightly, which will be positive for the market.

Lord Lee made a very impressive case for MNG, I decided to pick it just above LG..

Any spare cash over the 9 months will go into MNG..

Like a minimum of 20k worth..

You got a good entry on your MNG. It's a clever idea to wait to ex-div day if you want to buy anything these days..

I really dont think it will be too long now before we start to see bids in this sector. The sector is just so cheap..

I've long been saying something will happen, even AV could be a bid target you never know..

PHNX though is now a sitting duck imo if the price goes any lower.

You would naturally think any bid would come from the larger US companies. Any of these UK companies would make great bolt-ons for them and give them access to the UK market..

Just check my sipp account and noticed I've got some Tax relief allocated to me. So joined you and Mr Lee in MNG. 2663 starter position. I'll keep adding over the next 12 months.

Their will be some investors, with tight stop losses panic selling not realising it ex Dividend day, some folks are brain dead.

A few of my holdings have all gone ex-div today like MNG, PHNX, CSN and a few others all being whacked miles more than than the dividend..

Some moves are ridiculous like PHNX for example now offering a yield of 11% at these prices...

Portfolio looking a little sorry for itself as result this morning..
