My MNG holding is much larger than my AV but it is really difficult to pick one over the other imo. They are both great companies.

I think it wiser to hold both. Same with LGEN and PHNX and you cant dismiss CSN either..

The Millennials and ages below do not buy cards (or rarely) they use social media to send greetings and messages..

Putting 30% of your portfolio in it is stupidity..

But whos more stupid, him or his loyalist fans who buy everything he does..

I surprised he sold most of his Av shares to buy more M&G shares.

But saying that John makes a very good investment case for M&G, ill have to take closer look at them.

No bowl for Card this week then, CR won't be happy..

30% plus invested in a tacky card company, which is a dieing industry, over afew wiggly lines, is very very risky..

Very very good, thanks for highlighting..

Sounds like it is to be a regular series "Lee and the IC" - nice tone to it Lol..

As you say so refreshing to hear proper investors telling why they have invested on facts and what the company actually does as opposed to wriggly lines on a chart..

Its so refreshing to hear someone like John Lee explain why he has invested in certain companies with genuine facts. Rather some who have only invested because the chart is showing a bowl..

Bad day for the US markets yesterday. US housing down 8.8%. Im sure we have that to come here in the UK when winter time is traditionally softer/quieter months for the house building sector.

Just listened to the last 10 minutes of the Mark Atkinson podcast which i hadnt quite finished from this morning and i should cut him some slack in my earlier criticism because he does touch upon some listed companies in the rental property sector and mentions Grainger (one of yours) and Harworth - an interesting value play.

Yes, in his FT articles i believe he invested heavily into it making it one of his larger holdings around two or three years ago. From memory i think he was paying over £14 a share, so he is sitting on a large painful loss...

I've always been a bit sceptical on the company myself. The CEO has been there for years and sold-off businesses and bought others but the company never seems to be getting anywhere..

I honestly dont know what Lord Lee sees in it.

Disappointing that he has gone off the desert island track with that video.

My thoughts on buy to let in general: too many people have gotten into that game in recent years after a quick buck and they are now finding out that it isnt all honey and their money would be better off in a bank account given where interest rates currently are, and a lot less hassle too..

Shame he's decided to put a podcast out on property investment. Would have been better to have someone on discussing listed stocks in the sector including house builders, REIT,s estate agents etc..

If he goes off on a tangent he might find he starts to lose his core viewing audience.

My 10 year plan in to have 34 solid companies and 6 small risky small caps.

You can't have too many blue sky small caps in your Portfolio, They always eventually have to raise money, and if the markets aren't favourable the share price gets massively punished..

Another frustrating company i hold is MANO. Lawyers who chase up bad debts. Business is apparently booming the share price has gone consistently down since i bought them last summer on Lord Lees mention because they looked interesting.

Thankfully i only hold £2k worth of shares. My smallest portfolio position by far. Never had the confidence to add to them. Something seems odd.

It unfortunately is the case that a lot of these small-caps are a waste of time holding. We have both have said for a long time now that you need to get defensive.

Stocks like AV or TSCO are not going to warn on you..

The Sunday Times Business has two good write-ups. One on M&G and the new boss Andrea Rossi and the other on Tesco and Ken Murphy.

Ken Murphy seems to have some good ideas. He is fully aware of the previous problems the company has in expanding in the US and China and wants to tread carefully. He sees clubcard data as a possible massive growth area.

If i ever get a takeover then im more convinced than ever that TSCO is where the funds will end up.

MSI is becoming a traders momentum stock. Lots of folk now talking about. The Battlebus2 crowd and the trader with no pants claims to have a big holding in it.

I held this share a very long time ago and it never really gained any traction. It use to have very good years followed by lean years, the share price was all over the shop and i gave up on it years ago. I dont think a leopard ever changes its spots..

The CSN presentation was very good. Some really good questions asked with really good answers received..

In fact i was so impressed that it is top of my list to add to my holding whenever i get spare funds.
