Rains a lot in Rochdale. Be a good site for a reservoir imo.

Not hard to tell when you are in a UK airport. Arrived in M/C earlier. An Indian woman was asking an airport worker how to extract a case trolley from the pile. She was told to put a £1 coin (non refundable) into the slot. She said 'I've just arrived from Dubai - why would I have a pound?.
Its bloody embarrassing living in Britain. I mean charging for bloody case trolleys and a sodding £1. Welcome to the UK - always willing to help - for a fee - hope you have all brought your £1. Its below 3rd world standards - its worse than begging

Utrick,

Flats for £701,000...roflmao.

Aren't many of them converted warehouses?

Close to the City, so presumably they're some of the buying of such ridiculously overpriced accommodation - all to be conveniently located to work.

Rather live 20-25mins out and get better value for money.

Gekz, the reality for most owner occupiers in Shoreditch is probably that public amenities aren't commensurate with house prices or council tax charges. Granted it probably wouldn't be at the top of my list of neighbourhoods to by a terraced house if I had 1.3M but many folk have to live on their patch, NHS staff & labour MPs...those sorts.

Properties in Shoreditch had an overall average price of £759,029 over the last year.

The majority of sales in Shoreditch during the last year were flats, selling for an average price of £701,933. Terraced properties sold for an average of £1,313,494.

Overall, sold prices in Shoreditch over the last year were 3% down on the previous year and 9% down on the 2021 peak of £837,109.

Hi SkinnyWe live in a country where the vast majority believe that everybody above them on the income ladder should pay for everything whilst those above them on the income ladder believe they are paying far more than their fair share. When I was a teenager and again when I was not long married with two kids in my mid twenties the concept of discretionary expenditure was totally foreign to me. All our income went on basics. Today people appear to resent having to spend on basics.

I see Govey has come up with more good socialist strategies to stop people spending any money they have somehow managed to save how they like.

Hes going to double the VAT and road tax on any second cars a family own and they must have a separate license for every TV they own. Great plan to beat Labour at their own game.

It is an expensive business: in 2014 the former National Treatment Agency (NTA) estimated the cost to the NHS of treating drug misuse at around £500m a year. The total cost of alcohol misuse to the NHS in England has been estimated to be as much as £3.5bn a year.24 May 2018

Scruff, a more accurate comparison might be to only prosecute those who are alcohol intolerant for shoplifting offenses?

Same logic that says if you help shoplifters to wrap and store their swag and show sympathy to them for the bad behaviour that society has foisted on em they will repent. End of problem
