"When Barnier says no more renegotiation, he is talking about the EXIT deal NOT the future post Brexit relationship. That can only start being negotiated in earnest after Brexit and is still open. UK could still opt for customs union membership/ EEA membership/ bare bones FTA …"

Indeed this is a dysfunctional, worn out sick parliament. It is the ROTTEN PARLIAMENT. There is a need for a General Election. But the Anti-democratic Labour and SNP refuse to allow the People to vote in a new parliament. Democracy is being strangled by Labour and SNP. Parliament makes the laws, not the laws making parliament. Democracy is People Rule.OK

"The ONS said borrowing was pushed higher due to seasonal payments of £2bn for winter fuel and £2.7bn of student loan write-offs - both of which are recorded in September each year."

Winter fuel payment - I mean none of us on here need it, but we're not even taxed on it.

I'm hoping parliament don't buy the Boris agenda. I have faith that they will not.

Smoke and mirrors on some of the new bill. Lack of understanding of the contents is obvious (polite version). Just take our word and sign it off - crazy.

Cruachan Power Station

Here it is.

Believe it or not we do have power transmission/distribution networks owned by National Grid and SSE.

I have actually visited Cruachan Power Station on my very enjoyable holidays in Scotland - plenty of whisky, plenty of fresh salmon. The power station is very impressive.

People are forgetting I have a Honours degree in electrical and electronic engineering so I fully understand transmission, distribution and generation of base load unlike Pierre who, having studied pure maths, is applied engineering and applied science illiterate.

Carbon sequestration is the ultimate madness (until they come up with something even more ridiculous).

Storing liquified co2 in holes in the ground. Need any more be said?

And if we store 100% (and i think the discussion is currently about storing well below 0.01%) that will be negligible, lower than the noise level, i.e. insignificant) compared to just the growth in human co2 emissions, which themselves are insignificant compared to natural carbon processes.

Still, BP will be pleased to do it for us if we pay them enough, that's just capitalism.

And remember on top of that, many experts are sceptical of the co2 hypothesis predicting various disasters.

Mr Barclay was correcting a previous answer he had given to the committee, having initially said he believed the forms would not be required.

And they expect parliament to rush it through in 3 days to appease just Boris and his brain dead supporters. Even the Brexit Secretary doesn't know whether he is coming or going.

You couldn't make this farce up if you tried.

"Also, Drax have a natural energy storage facility using water. During heightened solar and wind generation water is pumped up to the top of the mountain ready to be released when green generation is low and/or when pricing arbitrage benefits."

Where is this mountain Min ? ?

Some interesting posts about the green nonsense today.

Bear in mind it's about virtue signalling - whether it actually works doesn't matter so long as they can say, look at me, look what a wonderful human being I am.

At a higher level it's about justifying increased government interference and increased taxation, and redistribution of the world's wealth.

Drax don't currently implement carbon capture on a permanent basis. They just have the technology. I suppose we are going to get some comments about carbon sequestration now from our very own BB climate professor.
