22/10/2019 11:22 | Pierre "'generates frequency' ! 'only uses offcuts'! Quote me where I said those two things. I didn't. You've spun them. Typical Brexiter. | minerve 2
22/10/2019 11:21 | dont sell........ still well undervalued | mr.elbee
22/10/2019 11:21 | Bercow is an example of Artificial Intelligence.LEAVE and WTO | xxxxxy
22/10/2019 11:20 | lef, its about 380ppm, being 0.038% (not 0.38%) , a trace gas. Half a billion years ago, it was 10 times as much, according to what i just googled. | pierre oreilly
22/10/2019 11:20 | REMAINERS are intent on damaging the Economy.REMAINERS are intent on damaging our Democracy.LEAVE and WTO | xxxxxy
22/10/2019 11:19 | but what would the deniers do if you told them the truth? have a heart! | mr.elbee
22/10/2019 11:18 | what about the Chinese coal mines which have been on fire for more than a 100 years. They cannot extinguish them, just burning away, polluting all the time. They are never mentioned. | hamnavoe
22/10/2019 11:16 | well said.... CO2 warming drivel. but the public discourse these days is ALL drivel... of course if you talk to the mad greenies ,saying how they should be concentrating on non C02 pollution and how the CO2 farce simply is a collosal waste of time and effort and diverts attention from the real pollution[oasis, rap music and so on] they just, like the tories, dont get it. | mr.elbee
22/10/2019 11:15 | Apparently 0.387% of the atmosphere is CO2 and 97% of that originates from natural sources, thus people are responsible for 3% of 0.387% of this gas. Plainly it makes sense to be as planet friendly as possible, but the 'green' thing is simply an industry for political ends. | lefrene
22/10/2019 11:12 | We are all guilty Alphorn, but I an afraid its knackered the job. I hate to sound like an old fart, but when we were kids, we were out playing, riding bikes, building dens, playing football. Learning social skills, body language etc. We were running around. How many fat kids did you have in your class? We had one. It's all done on social media now. Its a big price to pay and its only going to get worse. | m5
22/10/2019 11:11 | "Where is the total CO2 audit for this lunacy? Plainly more CO2 is being created in the cutting down (removing CO2 absorbing tree) and burning oil products (and the CO2 created to extract those), to cut truck, and ship and then offload and transport to consumption point" Yup,to claim this biomass power generation is Eco friendly is ridiculous. As is the Man made CO2 emissions global warming drivel. Even Nasa agrees that the SUN is the biggest influencing factor, then its the Earth's tilt, rotation etc etc. Co2 emissions are a tiny component. This is ALL about power & control. Taxing us to get us to alter our behaviour whilst those at the tiop continue polluting as they were. | crossing_the_rubicon
22/10/2019 11:09 | Dont even think about the lunacy...you cant be rational with religious nuts,lefrene...but there IS an agenda behind all of this. | mr.elbee
22/10/2019 11:08 | I spent June in Wilmington NC and visited the port. Much of the pellets they ship come from Canada, 50% of it by truck, although I noticed while I was there that they were making improvements to the rail system where it enters the port. Where is the total CO2 audit for this lunacy? Plainly more CO2 is being created in the cutting down (removing CO2 absorbing tree) and burning oil products (and the CO2 created to extract those), to cut, truck, and ship and then offload and transport to consumption point. Whilst the power plant is sat on top of coal! | lefrene
22/10/2019 11:07 | m5 - you have got it. I should be outside dropping my gearbox. ;)) | alphorn
22/10/2019 11:06 | so filter it Pierre.What is the problem? | mr.elbee
22/10/2019 11:05 | Times have moved on Min, and IMHO not for the best. The biggest culprit, the INTERNET. | m5
22/10/2019 11:05 | mikemike, why spend hundreds of billions worldwide on unproven and unlikely in many experts' views, on something which may or may be a problem in 200 years, while leaving millions of our fellow humans starving and living in appalling conditions today? Why not spend some on them, and alleviate unassailable suffering today? | pierre oreilly
22/10/2019 10:50 | Pierre Yes, it does use whole trees too: sustainable woods/forests. Most trees do die you know. They don't last forever. Before you comment on Drax I suggest you find out a little more about what they do rather than making wild accusations. Nuclear is the way to go. End of story. | minerve 2
22/10/2019 10:45 | Maybe we should admit its too late to save the world, and our kids kids kids are doomed !! | mikemichael2
22/10/2019 10:42 | This won't pass the HoC. "Firms in Northern Ireland will have to submit declaration forms for goods heading to the rest of the UK, under the government's Brexit deal. Brexit Secretary Steve Barclay confirmed the details on Monday when giving evidence to the Lords Exiting the EU committee. This followed previous assurances that NI-GB trade would be "unfettered". DUP MP Sammy Wilson said it represented a "clear breach" of previous commitments made by the government." That's a hard border down the Irish Sea, in effect! Not good at all. | poikka
22/10/2019 10:42 | oh ffs, energy consumption = co2 emissions in all the examples i quoted. ffs mate. And no, drax doesn't use the offcuts from making a table. It uses whole trees, sometimes over a thousand years old, and it uses them at probably 300/400 per day. My posts are depressing , not wonderful. If it were up to me, i would have engineers designing our energy and power requirements from a basis of understanding, not greens from a basis of fa. | pierre oreilly
22/10/2019 10:37 | Pierre Your post sounds wonderful. Energy consumption isn't the issue though! It is carbon emissions. If trees are not grown then they don't absorb carbon. If trees are left to die, they release exactly the same amount of carbon that you would release by burning them if they were left to rot. If you don't have trees, you have fields, probably full of cows knowing the US, which don't absorb carbon, farting methane (one of the worst gasses), getting ready to be cut up and delivered to all of the US and the ROW as burger meat. It isn't about utopian targets set stupidly by ignorant morons in government, it is about viable targets to reduce emissions. | minerve 2 |
