The welsh election result cannot be used as a guide to Brexit or wider political support, simply because that seat has always traditionally been a Lib Dem / Tory battle and as such nothing has changed irrespective of "Brexit".

No deal Brexit climate change plans are 'woefully inadequate'

James Crisp, brussels correspondent
2 AUGUST 2019 11:56AM

A no deal Brexit will weaken Britains fight against climate change because woefully inadequate emergency plans for a disorderly exit will make it cheaper to pollute in Britain than in the EU.

Government officials are scrambling to review contingency plans to replace the UKs membership of the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) with a carbon tax in case of a no deal exit.

But the new Carbon Emissions Tax is 10 cheaper per tonne of CO2 emissions than the price charged under the EU system, removing a major incentive on polluting industries to change their behaviour.

More tosh here:

Dear Supporter,

Many thanks for your continued support which is much appreciated. Together we have already made a significant impact on UK politics.

It appears that Tory leader Boris Johnson is now moving towards a reheated version of Theresa May's terrible Withdrawal Agreement - the worst deal in history, a treaty that was accurately described by Boris as reducing the UK to a state of 'vassalage'.

After a few short days making positive noises, the new Prime Minister is already talking about an extended period of Transition. A period when we would effectively still be in the Single Market and Customs Union, we would not be able to implement new trade deals, would still be subject to the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice and would not have control of our fishing waters. Under the terms of Mrs May’s agreement, we would also unnecessarily be paying £39 billion without the EU agreeing to any new trade deal.

As you would expect, exposing Boris’ backsliding on Brexit will be a focus for us in the weeks ahead.

I don't really follow Lloyds, and hate talking politics, but @ Minerve;

Brecon -
Con ........... 39.0%
Brexit ........ 10.5%
LibDem ........ 43.5%

LibDem were helped by a pact, Con were robbed by the absence of a pact.
(Lab were 5.3% which is pretty irrelevant, given that voters hadn't a clue about their policy.)

In a GE, I would vote LibDem and "B to B", but I think it's useful to keep a grounding in fact.

If anyone has listened to very restrained Prof presenting the Reith lectures...he compares the USSR after the war with the current EU....amazing that they let him say that, except that the media muppets couldn't possibly listen and concentrate for that length of time....although the outward values may appear to be different., the underlying non political ,Court based system is fundamentally the same and completely undemocratic.

The Brecon election was a Tory enclave. Liberals were first. Liberals are a remain party.

"No deal is good for Boris, good for the Conservative Party, good for the country. It's a no-brainer. It's going to happen"

"And if it doesn't, Mark Francois, the ERG and The Brexit Party will make sure Boris pays for it"

Oh dear, where would I even start with this Graham........

We won't leave with "no deal", it's just NOT going to happen. Where can I buy a crystal ball like yours, Mystic Meg?

There's far too much to lose in real terms What? Exactly what?

No deal is good for Boris, good for the Conservative Party, good for the country. It's a no-brainer. It's going to happen.

And if it doesn't, Mark Francois, the ERG and The Brexit Party will make sure Boris pays for it.

Home Secretary Priti Patel (left) stands next to Chancellor Sajid Javid at Tilbury docks as they inspect a new high tech security barrier that they hope will be part of new security measures at the new (no boarder) Irish boarder.
