so where is the vaccine for
sars? the common cold?"

No need for a vaccine for a common cold - why?

"Colds are usually milder than flu. Colds generally do not result in serious health problems, such as pneumonia, bacterial infections, or hospitalizations" <---------

As to SARS - What was the CFR of SARS?
It burned out it was so fatal. Nothing requiring a vaccine left after it speedily worked its course.

"and why wont 50% of UK nurses take the flu jab?"

because it isnt mandatory and they do not want to???

"tamiflu for tea anyone?
these vaccinators are stark raving mad"

Are you some anti vaccinator or soemthing?
I only ask because I have mixed feelings about such. You, however, seem very restrictive and anti vaccination.

An observation looking at the UK news programs with their outside interviews. My goodness, obesity is alive an well. Overweight is the name. Is this the roly-poly thread too?
Just an observation - is that one reason for the high domestic infection rate???

I don't understand all his calling for more tests. It's effin obvious to all that testing would be massively beneficial. Problem is not enough test kits which work.

As to masks. I think the experts disagree whether they're useful or not and where they are useful or not. I just wish the 20yo who brushed passed me and my wife yesterday while out walking (he was running, and puffing and emitting into the air the virus if he has it), would wear one. The pratt. We were single file on a small pavement next to a deserted country road and decided to brush passed us (saying 'sorry' as he did) on the inside rather than set foot on the deserted road.

. Paul A , Friday, April 17, 2020, 09:17:@11. Diane. No it doesn't. It makes sense to leave now and go WTO so that the EU can work on their 'current circumstances' without any distraction. Thus we are kindly freeing up their 'crack' team of 'experts' to set up committees to discuss and pontificate on 'current circumstances'.

the only safe anti dote is the bleeding obvious
herd immunity"

Rubbish.

To get herd immunity you need 75-80% of populace to have been infected and survived.
We are currently at what? Long long way to go to that, and how many would have to die to get to that 80% threshold?

As GBH2 says "we need an effective Treatment and eventually a Vaccine"

Herd immunity will come after that.

Don't see BREXIT any problem. See Brexit as a bonus. But see coronavirus politics a big problem as politicians seem beholden to Fear.Brexit is good.Coronavirus considerations are bad.

smarty - "Why was there such a fuss when doctors and nurses couldn't get hold of any?"

Different masks, hopefully. Have you seen the faces of health staff after wearing a mask during their shifts.

Still, each to their own.

"Right, only those wearing masks are allowed into my restaurant/pub."

'monthly payments on car lease deals because of coronavirus should not have their vehicles repossessed and instead be given payment holidays, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has said. The regulator has unveiled measures aimed at helping those in financial difficulties because they have lost their jobs or their pay packets have shrunk because of the lockdown. The move comes amid fears a crisis is brewing in the UK's £75bn car loan industry, with 6.5m vehicles on finance deals.About 90pc of new cars are sold via personal contract purchases (PCPs) agreements, where customers effectively "rent" a car usually for three years. At the end of the deal, when consumers effectively pay to cover the cost of a car's depreciation, they have the choice of handing back the keys and walking way, making a "balloon" payment to cover the outstanding amount, or refinancing based on car's residual value at the end of the deal and using equity built up to fund another PCP on a new vehicle. Troubles in the car industry are being intensified by an "apocalyptic" collapse in new car sales, which fell more than 40pc last month.'Daily Telegraph
