Test Test Test ?????????? testing is only good if the results are correct. The current sets of testing are not consistent and the results are not conclusive. Until the testing is assured of correct results, there is no point in multiplying production.

The issues are several but the most obvious is that the virus is not fully understood in its transmission. Say home stay safe (isolation) is the best avoidance and evasive method of reducing spread. Once the testing becomes conclusive and consistent there will be a possibility of a constructive exit strategy.

Treatment of the affected is also inconsistent and has caused a lot of insecurity. Those that have recovered have done so with medical attention by corageous dedicated people. A lot has been learnt but still insufficient to save everyone. The search for a vaccine goes on and even that may not be a total prevention.

For now just breating exercises (including steam inhalation, salt warm water gargles and good diet will keep you safe.

It's a virus and viruses tend to mutate, which is why we need an effective Treatment and eventually a Vaccine.

UK government announces £10m coronavirus fund for English fishing sector

The UK government on Friday announced a £10m ($12.4m) fund to shield England’s

fishing and aquaculture sectors from the impacts of coronavirus.

More than 1,000 fishing and aquaculture businesses in England will receive £9m in

direct cash grants through a new fisheries support scheme, the government said,

noting that the supports were designed to assist the sector with its “immediate

needs” during the crisis.

The government also said that a further £1m would be made available to support

projects to assist fishermen to sell their catch in their local communities during

the pandemic.

The move, it said, would enable them to find new markets and support communities

that depend on the fisheries industry.

Guss - good post. Financial world is running out of sticking plaster. Economies had more or less recovered from 2008 with loads of cheap money. But there will always be these shocks. I can't imagine where interest rates will go when things (hopefully, with vaccine) begin to settle down. Which could be around a year or more. It would be a strange world if you had to pay to have an ordinary savings account and benefited from having debt!

Not sure whether to dip in here...been watching share price fall over the months... my main worry atm is the big fat elephant in the room.... BREXIT.... the uncertainty of that in the next few months will add further pressure to share price .. it could easily fall to 25p or even 20p.... imo

DOMINICPosted April 17, 2020 at 5:59 am | PermalinkTory MP expresses concerns about the actions of the POTUS. Interesting volte faceMeanwhile China captures the WHO and its head (an ex-Minister within the authoritarian Ethiopian regime). And now the WHO bends to the will of the Chinese Communist State.China is culpable, we all know this to be true. The WHO is silent on this fact. Conclusion? It's been bought.Trump is correct in exposing the political infection at the heart of the WHO and many western governments take direction from the WHO as a form of distancing themselves from having to take responsibility themselvesTrump not only needs to expose the Chinese and the WHO but also the actions of the British government regarding HuaweiThe globalists despise Trump for he is their worst nightmare. A civilian in political life who's prepared to tell it as it is. That must stick in the craw for many western politicians who haven't the moral courage to do soThe WHO like many international organisations have become political organisations. That's damaging to us all

"Conclusion, is to test test test, for all we know half the population might have it, or had it!!! Trouble is Government know they can't do any of this yet, so they fudge and distract"

Bingo, absolutely spot on.

"The South Korean model"
Test, test, and if in doubt, more testing.

As to "masks" they were plentiful back in March/Early April.
Half face masks all over the place - even Screwfix and co had them!!!!!!

you are dead right,Pierre, in your views about lifting restrictions..Would that you were involved in the decision making.

but you are not!

so I doubt if it will be sensible and efficient..this is England after all.

The compliance of the British has now been well and truly demonstrated so your plan for gradual relaxation of restrictions would work.

But will they do the right thing?

"
Yes, I think it is today that I finally fully grasped what you’ve been talking about.

The tragedy of this country is not that it is a completely dysfunctional society on so many levels... the tragedy is the society is completely ok with being this dysfunctional... after all, every society gets the outcome it aspires to achieve."

Interesting thought going around that people who smoke seem less likely to pick up the virus.
Nicotene may be doing something to stop the virus taking hold or so the speculation is saying....
Just media reporting people views...

I have heard over the years from people who stopped smoking that they have never had so many colds....
"Never had a cold when I smoked"... is a line that I have heard.

Gawd help us if smoking cigarettes is proven to help stop the virus taking hold...

jL5006, It wasn't an opinion it was fact. I'm not saying it was in the best interests of Lloyds shareholders but the fact remains that the Lloyds board had requested competition rules be waived in order to snare HBOS. Due diligence wasn't completed as it was a rush job pushed through by Brown to shore up /save the UK banking sector and at the same time keep the Chinese out.

' in many European countries, and even in the US, governments have started to relax some of their more draconian restrictions and have outlined timetables for their exit strategies. Although these moves have been limited – the World Health Organisation has warned that Europe should move with "extreme caution" in ending restrictions – they give businesses greater clarity about when they can reopen. 'Daily Telegraph

Well played Captain Tommy Moore, you deserved your Burma Star, but even Churchill couldn't eventually suppress your dastardly deeds, by editing out and censoring "The Chindits" and the 1.6m Commonwealth citizens who gave their lives to the war effort, from Pathé News reels, screened in cinemas around the Empire. You waited for a long time to be Knighted for earning your medal ribbon and star for extraordinary bravery. You've inspired the world yet again with your tenacity at 100.....BRAVO!

German workers pay 8% of their wages to a non profit health insurance company and the employers pay the same for every worker. So lets say 30,000 euros a year x 8% is about 2,400 yr. + employers 2,400. that's 4,800 yr average = 400 euros month.

That's on minimum wages!
