If there is an expectation of upto 20% fall on Friday then I don't understand why the index is up 3-4% both yesterday and today ... perhaps more is already priced in than we think.

Before Russia went in to the Ukraine the 3 notifiable share holders held a combined circa 50% of JRS and all 3 have been selling down their holdings at any price.

So far these 3 have sold an approximate 15% of JRS therefore they still hold circa 35% of JRS.

People hate uncertainty. Nobody is sure what will happen on the moex tomorrow. If the moex only falls say 20% or so, jrs will look the bargain of the century.

Definitely an influence but there is a smaller disconnect too with others that don't have distressed ii. Good day so far for the moex, I'm certain soon enough this will be one of my best investments.

Yes. There needs to be a moex 70 percent sell off to justify the share price. I don't believe it will be that bad. Maybe an initial violent spike down as Western sellers pile out followed by Indian /Chinese/Petro money pile in at bargain prices

Probably more due to Lazard and City reducing holdings ?

Can only be that investors believe the moex will equalise to the downside tomorrow, I think it will be a big red one for the moex but nowhere near that bad!

Germany's government said on Wednesday it has received assurances from Russia that Europe would not have to pay for Russian gas supplies in rubles.Olaf Scholz's office said Russian President Vladimir Putin told the German Chancellor that European companies could continue paying in euros or dollars. In a phone call with Scholz, Putin said the money would be paid into Gazprom Bank and then transferred in rubles to Russia, a German statement said. The bank is not currently subject to sanctions.

If you compare valuation here to poly or pog there is a large divergence in valuation caused by our forced sellers. That being said the fund price has still been able to gain somewhat. I think the gap will close when true NAV is indicated or at least inferred from tomorrow onwards.

Yes Hopan I have been pondering this as well and just put it down to a gift from the woke to the not so woke ,must thank them by never investing in any funds they run as they clearly will never have investors interests anywhere near the top of the list.

I am not expert. Can a quasi forced seller like this, selling at any price, create a significant divergence from the underlying market?? How should we view it?

The stand-off between Russia and Germany over payment for gas in roubles is interesting.

Eventually Germany will have to agree to pay in roubles, but some face-saving form of words will be found to save western pride. They will pay in ‘convertible euros’ perhaps?

The peace talks in Istanbul are not going to make progress until Ukraine concedes legitimacy to Russian control of Crimea and Donbas. That will also happen eventually, but it may take some time.

They will be eager to get rid. Toxic image shedding outweighs financial loss. Time is critical.

Until 1954 Ossetia was one republic with in the Russian SSR when in 1954 the President of the USSR and native Ukrainian Nikita Khrushchev split the Republic in half leaving North Ossetia in Russia and giving the Southern half to Georgia, in the same way he split Crimea off from Russia and handed it over to the Ukraine.

When the USSR fell apart the Ossetian's wanted to reunify to become a single republic again and have wanted to do so ever since.

South Ossetia to hold referendum to join Russia in future.

Officially, South Ossetia is recognized by most countries as being part of Georgia, though Georgia has no de facto control over it.

The pro-Russian Georgian breakaway South Ossetia is set to hold a public referendum to fully join Russia, South Ossential parliament Speaker Alan Tadtaev told Russia's TASS news agency on Wednesday.

"We have every reason to join the Russian Federation and there are no legal obstacles to this," Tadtaev added.

"I believe that unification with Russia is our strategic goal, our path, the aspiration of the people," President Anatoly Bibilov, was quoted as saying.

"We will take the relevant legal steps in the near future. The republic of South Ossetia will be part of its historical homeland - Russia."

All necessary legal procedures for South Ossetia to join Russia will be finished around April 10.

South Ossetia, as the name implies, is inhabited by the ethnic Ossetians, as is North Ossetia-Alania, which is one of the subject republics of the Russian Federation and a sovereign part of Russia.
