The British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) has issued a statement advising prospective pilots to be wary of current claims that there is an emerging worldwide pilot shortage.

Broadly, BALPA’s view is that airline pilot recruitment is currently buoyant and may remain so for the foreseeable future, but at the same time any claims of a pending global pilot shortage are to be viewed with a strong dose of scepticism.

“In the UK, we still have around 500 unemployed pilots."

For pilots? It's ball park stuff. The only fathomable reason for a pilot to go from Jet2 to EZY is if they want a Gatwick base. EZY don't tend to take direct anyway they hoover up from flight schools and charge them for the job then pay them under the market rate. You'll see EZY are either about to give a 21% pay rise or face pilot strikes. It's largely a reinstatement of pre COVID conditions. There is no denying Jet2 haven't got people they wanted despite what tiger says. Something is going wrong with recruitment and I can testify for it first hand. It is somewhat confusing as it's a pretty appealing place to be for a lot, but they need to shake the image of it being an old RAF boys club.

You'd have to be clinically insane to go from 500 hours a year at Jet2 and take a pay freeze at best to go to EZY to work 850?

It's all valid points and your wisdom no doubt stretches beyond mine. Tiger, any truth from your drivers they're short (talking potential grounding of aircraft) of airbus crew? I know the Gatwick swoop fell flat on its face a few weeks back. I've still no doubts it's a place people want to be but it seems the numbers onwards haven't been quick enough according to a few people I know.

Spot on Tiger; you have been associated with the business a touch longer than I have. I first invested at 200p when they were DART; I just think some folks have a very short-term horizon but that’s the way of the world in the investing game I guess.

only because people are

new to the company......who always under promise and over deliver.

fail to look at the metrics of this company

fail to read ALL the brokers who give this a 100% buy rating with some targets as high as 2200

the current p/e that is around 7 based on last years figures.

Its given those of us in the know the chance to load up again.

I’ve no bet on either.

Travel has had its boost for now. Will it continue? I will keep monitoring to see, but U.K. is starting to struggle. Our shares are cheap but they cheap for a reason.

Good point on pilots though. I’ll be honest I hadn’t been following it closely.

They fly themselves right up until the moment they don't. And then you best hope you don't have a bus driver in those two seats.

The pilots at Easyjet and other airlines need to pipe down a bit. They are just over payed bus drivers. Modern airliners fly themselves these days. They are a big drain on the EBITDA.

easyJet not worth putting a penny in until they confirm the pay deal with the pilots toast. Not only will the punters give it a swerve but the market will as well if they announce action.

Major airports in the UK such as Heathrow and airlines including Easyjet have projected a strong summer season. ($1 = 0.7983 pounds)

The traffic data to their websites. It has been on an uptrend since November hence the massive rise.

Whilst currently it’s not bad it’s only flat now which may explain why pricing in April and may was soft. Unfortunately I was late to party and only made a few quid. Summer bookings are not guaranteed to be brilliant and EasyJet holidays traffic page is flying. On the beach traffic is flying who partnered with Ryanair is picking up also.

If you believe like any sensible person and not an under water ramper that holidays are a zero sum game in the U.K. then any competition will drive down margins and growth.

I posted the graphs of the traffic before. I still think it’s a decent long term investment but I trade and I am not a bag holder. This could easily dip to 1200.

EasyJet I made a few quid on is a better bet and has more growth potential with their holiday site but I also sold it because there is no hurry. It’s just a stock don’t fall in love with it, better to monitor the data closer to next results.

Good luck with the punter tiger and his great analysis.
