Interesting results from STVg last week (hope some of this follows through to ITV)

Total Advertising Revenue (TAR) up 5% in Q1 and expected to be up 15-20% in Q2 driven by Euro 2024

· Overall, H1 TAR expected to be up around 10-12%

· 3-year cost savings plan on track to deliver £1.5m this year as guided

· UK Media Act now law, guaranteeing prominence for STV Player

Smurfy , what makes you say that? The only reason they didn’t cut at the last meeting was they didn’t want to be seen to be influencing the election. They won’t have that issue come August 1st.
The BOE has two mandates , that’s it.
The first is to maintain financial stability , which is not relevant now.
The second is to control inflation. The target for that is 2% which we hit last month. As that is now achieved (imho) we will 100% cut. In fact , I’d say a 50% chance we cut 50bp. (Subject to inflation prints beforehand).

For some reason the share buy backs have been put on the back burner for the last week. The office junior running the scheme for ITV must be away on a club 18-30 holiday again ;-)

Quite reassuring that there are now three quite significant short positions open. A nice insurance policy.

ITV declared short interest up to 1.73% (Qube Research +0.02%, which takes them back to 0.51%). About 70m shares declared short.

I read one trader has a 2 million quid bet on a 0.5% reduction in August and stands to win 8 million quid if it happens!

Key dates coming up:
July 11 US inflation figures
July 17 UK inflation figures
July 18 ECB interest rate decision
July 25 ITV interim results
July 31 FED interest rate decision
Aug 1 BOE interest rate decision
The market currently thinks that the ECB and FED will leave rates as they are, but the BOE could well do a cut in rates.

Interesting for sure.

So many parties buying and selling - and all for nothing as the day closes flat…

Lol @ MatthewThat thread has long been an echo chamber where only upbeat posts (even if lies or based on nothing) are truly welcome.I am amazed you are still posting given the obvious coordinated attacks on you. They tried the same routine on Slater who put them back in their box, but why he persists there I don't know.

The record June advertising comment was released on July 4th (so is priced in)

LOL

I will give you a different example

Kier CEO had two years of reports delivering exactly what he forecast and the share price went down into the low 60s
The last set of reports were exactly in line with his forecasts and the share price took a flier running from 60p to 150p in a year. All they did was deliver to their midterm targets.

matthew I don't see much of a short term relationship between price and fundamentals. I would argue that disconnect can last years.

If efficient markets really existed and all actors traded on the basis of the information that is publicly available we wouldn't get the moves we do.
