29/1/2018 14:16 | European tech stocks return some of their earlier gains on Monday, with traders citing a report Apple has cut production guidance for the iPhone X * Nikkei Asian Review says Apple has alerted suppliers it has cut its production target for the flagship phone to 20 million units in Q1, from a previous estimate of 40 million envisaged in November. Link:hxxp://s.nikkei * Apple suppliers Dialog Semiconductor , STMicroelectronics , Infineon , IQE and AMS all fade gains shortly after the report, though all five stocks remain up on the day after AMS reported results well ahead of expectations [nL8N1PO0PK] | american idiot
29/1/2018 14:07 | 25p? When was the share price 90p? Either filter him or stop moaning, no one is making you read the posts. | michaeljames1
29/1/2018 13:53 | sheep_herder I am quietly researching this company and the technologies. Admittedly I don't have your knowledge, but I was not expecting meaningful revenues from 5G for at least a couple of years. | bloomer2
29/1/2018 12:51 | Great to see Sweenoid back and bring some sound comments; I agree totally with his remarks at the beginning of his recent post! I was one of the fortunate folk who bought IQE at 27p back in Oct 2011. I sold half at 138 last August then lost a couple of hundred quid on a spread bet a few weeks ago when I couldn't believe they would fall from 140! Nearly bought some more last Friday but thought I should hold on for a day or so. Need to get in, though, as I still have faith in this excellent company. | gatehill
29/1/2018 12:44 | could motor, shaping up.. | tsmith2
29/1/2018 12:43 | Roger, ok, sorry. Your last post clarifies. | sheep_herder
29/1/2018 12:20 | SH "Firstly, it's not a CMOS RFFE, it's GaAs," Yes I know, I think you misread my post , the CMOS RF chip was a red herring touted to make a significant dent in the market for GaAs . Qcomm have realised that far from GaAs being in decline , the advent of 5G will result in even greater complexity of the FE module and greater use of CS both GaN and GaAs will be extended to RF filters ( up until now Si based) as well as PA's hence their tie up with TDK. | rogerrail
29/1/2018 12:18 | welcome back sweeny. nice to see your energy returning. grief comes in waves as i'm sure you know. | adejuk
29/1/2018 12:14 | sweenoid, regarding the QCOM discussion, do you know who supplies TDK? | sheep_herder
29/1/2018 12:08 | bloomer2, go and look at the market for 5G and then come back and comment. | sheep_herder
29/1/2018 12:08 | Roger, I think you aren't paying QCOM the respect they deserve. Firstly, it's not a CMOS RFFE, it's GaAs, which is what tommy was aluding to. I believe QCOM will take significant share from the incumbents as the pull of a single vendor solution will be large. However, I think tommy's conclusion that IQE will suffer is perhaps a false one. At least based on his last couple of posts. The TDK arm of the joint venture seems to have expertise in the SAW/BAW filter market and I can't find any information stating that TDK are/were in the epitaxy business. So depending on who supplies them with their wafers, it may or may not have an effect on IQE. | sheep_herder
29/1/2018 12:02 | Revenues for wireless division are as follows:- H1 2016 £43.2m H2 2016 £48.1m H1 2017 £47.3m H2 2017 £44m (based on IQE comment that revenues were flat) So it would appear that wireless revenues have been falling over the last year - tomyum may have a valid point. | bloomer2
29/1/2018 11:40 | SH 😊 | hammerd2
29/1/2018 11:32 | tomyum when IQE were considered more or less as a GaAs wafer supplier it's share price moved in the range 15p-30p, hence if you consider a sum of the parts valuation , your logic behind why the shorters are circling does not hold water. As in the case of the QCom CMOS front end development, their strategy is to pick on any actual OR perceived threat, spook the market and make hay until fears are proved false or otherwise, something Blackrock did very well at the last time but Ennismore did not quite grasp. | rogerrail
29/1/2018 11:28 | Intra-day chart set up nicely.. | tsmith2
29/1/2018 11:20 | I posted last May that the £38m publicly funded CS Newport facility ( not to mention the fact the factory was actually built so the total investment was much greater) was a subsidy in disguise to IQE though it was being presented as a facility for the general benefit of the CS cluster in S Wales. The level of ip, and capital investment (taken together with the £95m from the fundraise and other EU grant funding in R&D) as well as significant revenues from VCELS guaranteed for a number of years to come through supply agreements with Apple suppliers provides a significant barrier to entry for other companies and should support a high degree of confidence in the current and projected valuation of the company. | rogerrail
29/1/2018 11:16 | ah yes I stand corrected | tonysss13
29/1/2018 11:13 | The deals were done last Thursday I think Tony. | semper vigilans

29/1/2018 11:08 | They will drag this back down to 105p but another great opportunity I say ...;-) | squire007 |
