09/4/2015 10:22 | Meb I've been tracking batteries and there are many applications where they combine other 'things' with lithium significantly reducing battery weights. Faster charging, more charge, lighter and multiples of the charge cycle. So long term while the market raves about lithium, I suspect they will need a lot less and get a lot more from it. Computers no longer weigh over 1/2 a ton. A quick example re super capacitors. I fancy getting one of these. A power device as a phone power back up. It takes 5 mins to fully charge. It's not fantasy as it's on sale later this year. | ![]() superg1

09/4/2015 09:04 | Meb As said I don't post all I find but note all the background stuff for reference should anything happen on the employee front. EG Feb 2015 'Union takes legal action against anti-union SQM' SQM is the world’s biggest producer of lithium. It is currently mired in controversy because of a series of financial irregularities. It has also violated the basic rights of its workers, who have suffered reprisals and been the victims of anti-trade union practices. The company also dismissed two workers and the union is seeking their reinstatement. We are taking legal action because of the violation of basic rights, trade union rights and the freedom of association, which is a right that is not only in our labour legislation but also in the Constitution”, said Miguel Soto, the union’s general secretary. A company that does not respect workers’ rights On 6 December 2014, Boris Chaile and Cristian Rojo, employed at the SQM subsidiary Salar, were elected leaders of the Inter-Company Union of Metalworkers. A few days later, the company dismissed both of them after invoking the “needs of the company” clause in Article 161 of the Labour Code. However this failed to recognize the job security rights of elected union leaders. On 21 January 2015, the Labour Inspectorate at Calama asked the company to reinstate the leaders but the company refused. The workers suffered further reprisals and were the victims of company anti-trade union practices. CONSTRAMET therefore took further legal action against the company for violating basic rights. Instead of defending the workers, company managers threatened them with reprisals if they continued as members of the Inter-Company union. The managers told the workers that that they ran the risk of being dismissed. Miguel Soto believes that the company is trying to undermine the right to collective bargaining. With the support of a company union, it has refused to negotiate and has imposed collective employment contracts. | ![]() superg1
09/4/2015 08:59 | Meb The SQM employees are very poorly treated but they are too terrified to strike at times. There were reports of that a few months back. Now they are seeing government and authority action, I'm guessing they will anticipate support, and maybe go on strike at some time to improve their working conditions. Pay may be one point as the Chile peso is very weak with many of those luxury goods they like costing more. On the minimum wage front over the last few years it's risen 25% or so. In that case higher paid positions will want similar pay rises I suspect. | ![]() superg1
09/4/2015 08:37 | SQM withdrawing refreshments from their workers on the face of it sounds amusing but shows they are desperate to cut costs which probably means that keeping iodine prices artificially low will not last long. | ![]() meb123
09/4/2015 08:16 | Some nice facts for the refrac era which was always on the way. Huge water use in some cases, contrary to what you may read on other threads, FACTS gathered and reported by seeking Alpha. They have used examples including when fracking first took off. Their examples and water use. 2010 most wells listed under 20k barrels, 1 of 74k barrels (average 21k) 2011 most above 50k barrels with 1 of 100k. (average 54k) 2013 similar to 2011 (average 58k) 2014 114k to 344k (average 219k) 10 times the average of 2008. They used more water in one well in 2014 than was used in all 11 wells shown for 2008. It's worth reading as they suggest they new completion techniques will feature in the coming refrac era. Something we have been pointing out for some time. Carlisle said 40k per well average needed. He was a bit behind the times. Hence if they continue on this proven high yield route, then the amount of water needed is and will increase substantially. | ![]() superg1
08/4/2015 23:11 | Chile advances on new reservoirs, but existing ones remain well below capacityBy Thomas Pimont - Wednesday, April 8, 2015Chile wants to invest more money in reservoirs, but long-term drought means that even if they are built, these reservoirs may well not even been filled to capacity. | ansana

08/4/2015 20:29 | I mentioned starcom as it's one I watch. The pattern in volumes and movement seemed to change and a hike seemed likely. It shocked me a bit when it went up 258% that day, nice for those that had some at the lower price. They have some interesting products and links. I noted the news today about removing one calculation and delayed revenue, so a typical MM move came. I haven't kept track of where they are. As I recall most of the shares are tied up by large holders so it will get some dramatic moves when volumes appear. One bit of decent news and it could go nuts again, but it's a gamble like most others. IOF seems well set now, assuming a decent Q1 production rate and should see decent climbs from where we were recently if the permit is awarded too. | ![]() superg1

08/4/2015 15:37 | They've dropped the 17k and put on 20k at 36p perhaps to tempt the 38p on 20k. That's what it looks like. | ![]() superg1
08/4/2015 15:29 | Awol I insist. I think when the 100k plus flurry of buys came the mm selling was mid prawn mayo sandwich so there was nothing on offer. We have have 4 trades of around the 42k shares mark. Currently prawn mayo man (or lady with low fat mayo) is sitting with 20k on 38p. On the bid two chunks 25k and 17k amounting to 42k so you can see what is going on, a weakening seller and a relatively strong buyer. | ![]() superg1
08/4/2015 15:24 | TFC What do you mean those ping 25s are an amazing find for me, v exciting, they go straight, well, the other day anyway. btw what has growth and sales got to do with anything, I thought you followed FUM. All you need is a fund buying and we seem to have one. Awol I think as stated at the time it was CGT sells, and hence as the new tax year has arrived they have apparently stopped. I have been expecting some general churn due to the quick 15 to 20% rise. | ![]() superg1
08/4/2015 14:56 | I cant believe anything exciting is going to happen until there is some news. We are due some. Quarterly update. Strategic review. Decision on water application. 08/4/2015 14:48 | Well I can sell 100k shares at over the published bid price, so I think there can't be a massive seller still remaining??NAI | ![]() cyberbub
08/4/2015 14:43 | I promise I wasn't going to ask...but as you mention it at last the seller is playing it smart and not driving it into the ground...so that makes me think it is not a distressed seller. I am looking for L2 and good charts supplier any thoughts?? Thanks | ![]() awolagain |
