08/5/2023 22:16 | I'd give Mr Thompson a knighthood and then a Lordship for his steadfastness of withstanding the unionsters, calling their bluff of disrupting xmas for the whole country and for tempering their demands. | ![]() casholaa
08/5/2023 20:26 | Old news I'm afraid. May be an exclusive for Sky but was well known throughout RM that part of the deal was to get rid of him. Thanks to Eastusk (post 717) for this link. Now it's official it will probably make it easier for the Union to get their deal accepted and should provide a welcome boost for the share price in the morning. Fingers crossed! 07/5/2023 16:25 | Hi MickinVest, I know there is a large percentage of part time postmen but they know the hours and rate of pay when they sign up for the job. You can't really complain when the company honour the contract you signed up for. This is a private company now who are trying to make changes to enable a return to profitability. They are not there to make changes that satisfy the CWU. As a shareholder I want the company to fulfil their legal obligation which is to work for the shareholders benefit, no-one else, just the shareholders. That's how businesses work. The biggest issue is that posties (and the CWU)have had it their own way since privatisation and finally someone is standing up to them. If they don't accept that then they have the same rights as everyone else in the country to pack the job in and go and work somewhere else but they won't find many "cushy" jobs out there any more. Employers expect you to work for your money and actually EARN it. That will come as a huge shock to the molly-coddled RMG workers. NMRN | ![]() not my real name
07/5/2023 12:37 | What percentage of postie's are full time nmrn? Less than 50% possibly so a part time job that works 90% weekends and where the part timers are out walking most of their time is the issue that my local office is having. Think it's only about a pound an hour difference between rmg pay and shop work? | ![]() mickinvest
07/5/2023 10:03 | Williamhurtley, "They're paid peanuts and have to work like dogs" -------------------- I don't know which area of the country you are in but in the West Midlands, where I am, posties are earning around £25k for a flat week. They are in the office for up to 2 hours then do a maximum 6 hour walk. (Vast majority of walks are less than 5 hours) Not a massive salary but not exactly starvation wages either. No qualifications required and no lengthy training process involved. Add to the base salary the opportunity to do overtime at time and a half where most are paid a minimum of 4 hours even if they are only needed for an hour and most of the guys I work with are earning over £30k. Not exactly peanuts and at 6 hours pay for one hours overtime I would be quite happy to work like a dog in any capacity. Just saying.... NMRN | ![]() not my real name
06/5/2023 20:51 | They're paid peanuts and have to work like dogs. I was only speaking with two Postie friends 2 days ago who I trust very much and they confirmed to me that the working conditions are indescribably poor and the pay worse. I don't doubt their sincerity. Like most other things since the dreaded bug arrived, it's all going to pot. | williamhurtley
