08/5/2023 20:26 | Old news I'm afraid. May be an exclusive for Sky but was well known throughout RM that part of the deal was to get rid of him. Thanks to Eastusk (post 717) for this link. Now it's official it will probably make it easier for the Union to get their deal accepted and should provide a welcome boost for the share price in the morning. Fingers crossed! 08/5/2023 19:02 | Sky News Exclusive: The Royal Mail chief executive Simon Thompson is in advanced talks with the board of London-listed parent company International Distributions Services about his departure after a torrid period in which his competence was questioned by MPs | pete160
07/5/2023 16:25 | Hi MickinVest, I know there is a large percentage of part time postmen but they know the hours and rate of pay when they sign up for the job. You can't really complain when the company honour the contract you signed up for. This is a private company now who are trying to make changes to enable a return to profitability. They are not there to make changes that satisfy the CWU. As a shareholder I want the company to fulfil their legal obligation which is to work for the shareholders benefit, no-one else, just the shareholders. That's how businesses work. The biggest issue is that posties (and the CWU)have had it their own way since privatisation and finally someone is standing up to them. If they don't accept that then they have the same rights as everyone else in the country to pack the job in and go and work somewhere else but they won't find many "cushy" jobs out there any more. Employers expect you to work for your money and actually EARN it. That will come as a huge shock to the molly-coddled RMG workers. NMRN | not my real name
07/5/2023 12:37 | What percentage of postie's are full time nmrn? Less than 50% possibly so a part time job that works 90% weekends and where the part timers are out walking most of their time is the issue that my local office is having. Think it's only about a pound an hour difference between rmg pay and shop work? | mickinvest
07/5/2023 10:03 | Williamhurtley, "They're paid peanuts and have to work like dogs" -------------------- I don't know which area of the country you are in but in the West Midlands, where I am, posties are earning around £25k for a flat week. They are in the office for up to 2 hours then do a maximum 6 hour walk. (Vast majority of walks are less than 5 hours) Not a massive salary but not exactly starvation wages either. No qualifications required and no lengthy training process involved. Add to the base salary the opportunity to do overtime at time and a half where most are paid a minimum of 4 hours even if they are only needed for an hour and most of the guys I work with are earning over £30k. Not exactly peanuts and at 6 hours pay for one hours overtime I would be quite happy to work like a dog in any capacity. Just saying.... NMRN | not my real name
06/5/2023 20:51 | They're paid peanuts and have to work like dogs. I was only speaking with two Postie friends 2 days ago who I trust very much and they confirmed to me that the working conditions are indescribably poor and the pay worse. I don't doubt their sincerity. Like most other things since the dreaded bug arrived, it's all going to pot. | williamhurtley
02/5/2023 10:26 | "After five days of non-stop promotion of their sell-out deal with Royal Mail, CWU General Secretary Dave Ward and his deputy Andy Furey announced on Wednesday a postal ballot of members commencing May 17 and closing June 7." from wsws.org | casholaa
02/5/2023 09:14 | The value of IDS Property Estate not mentioned for a long time whilst dispute going on. Anyone like to hazard a guess as to current value? | 733700
27/4/2023 19:33 | I think a spot of Moonlighting is par for the Course. | isis
27/4/2023 19:28 | More than likely. If it's not one type of collection and delivery, it's another hehe | casholaa
27/4/2023 19:10 | Casholaa, "The excuse I was told down at my local RM delivery office was that many employees do the school run." -------------------- I think they meant they collect other peoples kids from school in their Uber! NMRN | not my real name
27/4/2023 17:13 | Apparently it was pretty normal to have another job when he was there. No wonder they don't want changes. | isis
27/4/2023 16:49 | I had a friend who worked for Royal Mail who also did Black Cabbying in the Evening. He finally left and just did the Black Cabbying. Seems they're not all as hard up as they make out. | isis
27/4/2023 16:07 | The excuse I was told down at my local RM delivery office was that many employees do the school run. | casholaa
27/4/2023 16:05 | isis, "Why don't some of them go and get another job if they're not happy? FFS" -------------------- Two places I go to on a regular basis have car parks with numerous Uber cars parked in them. That's why there so much opposition to the later start times! It interferes with the window cleaning, grass cutting etc etc. NMRN | not my real name
27/4/2023 13:43 | I don't mind train strikes, I hold NEX lol | casholaa
27/4/2023 13:33 | Bravado, nothing more. The resolve to strike was weakening and it could have fizzled out. The CWU fear losing control, all the talk is bluster. The big thing to come out of this dispute is that all dreams of re nationalisation will be dead. | careful
27/4/2023 13:27 | Yes, precisely. Perhaps they stay to keep membership of the *untish Workers Union? | casholaa
27/4/2023 13:17 | Why don't some of them go and get another job if they're not happy? FFS | isis
27/4/2023 13:09 | The unionsters back and promote the deal hxxps://www.cwu.org/ | casholaa
27/4/2023 11:24 | I suppose the posties like to make more work for themselves, just as well the price of post went up too !!!! lol | casholaa
27/4/2023 11:22 | Now I'm hoping that those 115k ballots potentially generate 130k extra bits of post for RM. Nothing wrong with having a few ballots every year, it's like turkey's voting for xmas with a gilt-edged envelope. | casholaa
27/4/2023 11:19 | Not sure, but the question should also include whether they provide a stamped self-addressed envelope... lol | casholaa |
