If Coronavirus goes on and gets worst, I really see 2014 low of 315p, of course rallies up, but in the end I see 315p.

From peak to trough, most recessions take 12-18 months (that is the hi to lo point on the indices chart). Then usually followed by 7+ years for bull market

On the way down. United have released guidance and bookings down. I reckon Norwegian and a few European operators (Al Italia) will be finished. Lots of consolidation and IAG well placed to benefit from that.

The airlines are in a NO WIN situation

Put simply their business models are in shreds.

So any tinkering is a waste of space

As I posted weeks ago.

Shut up shop now , pay off staff and re start without debt down the line .

These non exec directors buying share like they are cheap as a grain of rice. They're already severely down on their purchase.

They're probably shorting it with another company name.

Destruction coming

Wow, that's quite savage. How are they going to afford to live on unpaid leave for anything over a month or two?

dead cat bounce today.usually after a day of heavy losses.would not be surprised to see Dow in red territory again later in the session.IAG has been resilient so far.price of oil has helped but probably has hedged six to twelwe months supply at a higher price.if the virus is still around another couple of months the share price will drift lower and once 390p is broken then we are looking at 350p followed by monty,s 315p.

I expect something significant is coming tomorrow in the budget to help airlines. Transport particularly domestic is key in the U.K. they will not allow regional airlines to collapse. It will have a huge knock on long term to the “great naaathan revivial” Cummings seems so focussed on. I reckon APD will go, albeit temporarily and perhaps other tax incentives too.

Bottom line profit is key, it depends on what are fixed costs, e.g. wages, buildings, cost of fleet, etc. They stay the same.
Variable are the only ones you save on by cancelling flights, eg fuel, landing fees, accommodation, etc.
Scale is king to cover both.

Monty, Looks like cancellations are keeping the aircraft pretty full. Bad In terms of total revenue, great in terms of profit margin

monty - The Spanish government have said that Spanish police are now being used to "guarantee the correct observance of home isolation." Just like the good old days, Franco is back as I can imagine just how forceful the police are going to be in these situations.

Here we go ( as predicted)

Korean Air Lines warned on Monday that the coronavirus outbreak could threaten its survival after more than half of the world restricted passengers entering from South Korea.

Woo Kee-hong, Korean Air’s president, said more than 80% of South Korea’s biggest carrier’s international capacity had been cut as a result of travel restrictions globally, compared with a 18% cut made during the 1997-1998 Asian financial crisis.

“We can easily imagine the severity of the crisis we are facing in comparison. And what is more daunting is that the situation can get worse at any time and we cannot even predict how long it will last,” he said in a memo to employees.
