I think time to get into IAG is now.All sounds positive over weekend - flights restarting, minimal risk of catching on a plane versus a ferry etc

There is not a 100% flu vaccine. There are so many strands impossible for one vaccine to cover all

"There are thousands of flu cases each day every winter... Hundreds die... "

There is a vaccination for flu. There is a prevention for it.
There is no vaccination/prevention for Covid19.

Would it be ok to continue flying 737Max planes after all, only 2 planes crashed??? After all there were hundreds of other 737Max flights that didn't crash!!!!

There are thousands of flu cases each day every winter... Hundreds die... Better control of situation is required and Spain, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Turkey all opening up.... Including flights... Easyjet are flying from mid June... Cases are plummeting and number of deaths are reducing... Additional measures like checking for symptoms etc will be just another security check... Id say more chance of catching coronavirus in the UK in supermarket than in Spain now

There are still hundreds dying and thousands of new covid cases every day.

That like a planeload dying everyday!!!

Last 24hrs 2.5k new covid cases and that's with the limited testing... There needs to be significantly more widespread testing...

Having a test just before you fly is pointless...

A person would spend an hour in the queue for check in, then about 1/2 hr or so in security queue.. a separate queue for Covid testing would add another hr.

So an infected person could infect passengers on a flight whilst waiting for checkin or security.

Covid19 has a 14day incubation period hence the 14 day incubation period..

At what point would you test the passengers and where would they wait for their results? Would there be a separate testing queue for each airline?

I have a family holiday booked with BA to go from Gatwick to Orlando in August this year. I got a really good deal & have been told that I can change the dates if BA are not flying at no additional cost. I was advised by my TA that BA are the safest airline to fly with.

There is a rumour that BA may stop flying out of Gatwick & we may have to go to Heathrow & fly to Miami. But all in the air at the moment.

The US boarder is closed at present but I think this will change in the coming weeks / months.

I strongly think that BA will be around after the crisis is over. I also think that the cost of flights will go up significantly in the future & that there may be less choice.

I'm not a share holder but have been reading this thread & found it interesting.

Well countries will have to agree how to deal with that situation. For 0.05 or less where that will occur they will have to deal with itYou cannot close down the whole of the Spanish economy for 1 case in every 1000. The south of Spain is desperate - the govnt will have to stop those people flying and pay for them to isolate for xtra 2 weeks. In terms of cost peanuts compared to damage done.

So what happens if you're clear to fly to Spain or Greece or wherever and displaying no symptoms, but when you show up for your return flight a week or two later, you have a temperature or a persistent cough? You'd be stuck out there.. Crew already get temperature tested before each flight with some airlines if not all. Unfortunately symptoms take a few days to appear as we know. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

This will be a crucial factor. Not only for airlines but the economy in general ...

Can't see the 14 day rule hanging around for long. Have to test b4 get on flight and not focus on quarantine at other end.Looks like not far off having a test at airports prior to flight

That's all very well but if a 14 day isolation on return still stands it won't help anyone except those who are retired (potentially the most vulnerable) or anyone else who doesn't need to go to work.

Good news that will help IAG operate at near capacity is coming to you soon.

Antigen saliva tests from Avacta and GE Life Sciences (Cytiva) can detect Covid-19 in less thatn 10 minutes on a stick. You test all passengers, if you are tested positive it shows you have the virus right now and so you will self-quarantine...and not fly :(

When this is approved in the US, Europe and UK, all the World airlines can fill their planes without the need for social distancing and masks :)

GL IAG.

In general the future finances of the company + share price are determined by several unknowns ATM related to C19When can this company return to revenue operations? While we all pontificate based on our position - i think it is fair to say this is a fluid situation with new data coming on a daily basis. Some points I consider large cash reserves Looking at cost restructuring Other airlines starting to fly July/ August Instant Testing at airports 5-10 mins ( to be validated)Government strategy to get this back on trackWill the 2 week quarantine be imposed - for how long - is it a bargaining strategyI believe IAG will survive based on cash reserves and financing facilities. We will find a way to test people prior to flying - resulting in high occupancy.Outcome - re rating in the next 4-8 weeksIMHO DYOR

"They should not go out to buy food and other essentials whrn they can rely on others"

Its very vague... Basically folks will go out shopping... Excuse - I don't have anyone i can rely on to do my food and essential shopping... I have to go to the doctors etc.. It cant be enforced

Folks are already working from home... Loads of folks are and we have been in some sort of quarantine for last two months anyway. We're not allowed to visit relatives and friends and been like that for last two months

Hardly any trains running and taxis are already really struggling anyway.

In reality... Folks won't be able to go to the beach or park like in March but outside for a stroll in the avenue or street.. It can't be stopped

Ive spent two months in my garden and folks ive at spoken to today are not put off.. In fact they are more determined to travel to Spain, Italy, Mexico, Turkey and Cyprus.

I think that with kids off school, folks working from home... Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Italy opening up and rhis place still in lockdown with rubbish weather.. There will be more folks holidaying abroad in early July than same time last year

Sod the quarantine!
