Bear trap, fundamental have not changed and earnings are still impacted, so effectively majority of companies worst off currently. Any negative further news will skittish investors running. Iag have cancelled 171 short haul flights and cancelled 12 flights a week to New York till end of March.

Flights to Italy, France, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Ireland and Switzerland - plus New York's JFK airport have all been affected. It has also cancelled flights from Gatwick to Italy, France and Albania. From London City, there are cancelled flights to and from Germany and Italy.

Effectively banks would have to bail out companies that lose so much paying revenue that they can no longer pay their staff. Look at easyJet, already started that process in terms of layoffs So will get a double whammy of virus and job security / sustainability down the tubes. If any company loses immediate 20% revenues today, wait for the cuts everywhere, including dividends. I hope it’s doesn’t happen but the virus is not the whole problem here by any means. We probably won’t know the revenues impacts for several weeks so the downturn is not about to blunt out in the next 2 weeks

If it gets bad, central banks will do more than slash rates... Printy Printy. Shorters will be caught with their knickers around their ankles ready for fist insertion.

IAG will be one of the last standing in a doomsday type Coronavirus scenario. Norwegian, Etihad etc will all go bust long before + IAG will no doubt snap up any LGW slots for sure along with any slots at LHR that airlines default on due to LHR not relaxing rules on slot usage and forfeit! Imagine they'll snap up slots on Norwegians network when they fold for the benefit of LEVEL too... Share price is being slashed hard but the company is the strongest out there from what I can see.... Big rebound when it's blown over. Take a look at Norwegians SP!

“Prior to the outbreak of the coronavirus, IATA had forecast Middle East passenger demand would grow by 4.6% in 2020, but under the current outlook for the outbreak this projection will be halved to 2.3%.

Middle Eastern airlines' passenger demand growth was 2.6% last year, the slowest pace of expansion among all regions and down from 4.9% growth in 2018, according to IATA.

Middle East jet fuel demand in 2019 grew 1.3% from a year earlier, compared with to a 3.0% increase between 2018 and 2017, according to S&P Global Platts Analytics data.“

Try 80% reduction this year

Down screaming this artificial rise backed by ear cuts will be a disaster. Once world wide recession hits they won't have ammunition to stoke markets then. If it rises towards 450p tomorrow I'll close my short. But will wa t until 820am
