Just been looking at this. US competitors include Solid Power and Ionic Materials. Ionic has reported $65million dollar investments. Solid power has had $20 million funding rounds. Both have research contracts announced with large globally recognized brand names.
I wouldn't assume any kind of competitive advantage for Ilika without researching it in a lot of depth.

The directors seem quite well paid for a company that's not yet made any money 9 years after listing. The CEO gets a package costing almost £250k and he's also just had 1,127,777 zero cost options granted in January. If I calculate correctly, he needs a share price of 49p to collect 75% of this or 73.5p to get 100%. In addition to all the earlier options.

Took one for the team. Just bought it & skimmed through. Talks a lot about the SSB/car industry in general & the major automakers moves in that space. But yeap, what our friend calls “A Bonus High Risk, High Reward Play” is IKA & he goes on for quite a few pages giving the standard info (benefits of SSB/Ika’s relationships/current projects etc). Nothing really gripping except that he sees IKA as a “tiny company that is a major player in the solid state battery industry”.

I think initial phases happened two or three years ago.
At least it might mean they are going to have to actually manufacture some batteries, which Network Rail will presumably pay for. That will be an important milestone.
Who will they get to manufacture them I wonder?
