Well that is two days running we have tried to get above the 14.6% fib retracement line and failed to hold above it, but today we have just about closed on it.

I'm still holding although my first target has passed, so fingers crossed for tomorrow.

A few events which should keep this trend going at least till August - I intend to run them tell then, barring any dramatic reversal.
I expect most news coming out of the Company to be positive.
China is hot and will get even hotter. HSBC gives great exposure to China with very limited downside.
China is their "Home Ground" - Compnay consider that outward investment from china will be staggering!

Following the Golden week holiday in Japan, the HSI closed up 288 points at 17,302. HSBC led the gains after some brokerages raised their target prices on the stock to reflect the valuations commanded by others in the sector.

980p first target.

Having said all that, they go XD on 17th May, so perhaps I should be adding about 8p to both targets!

Any ideas on when to sell?

I've got targets of 983.81p on the last lot I bought and 994.98p on the first purchase. The question is really, should I hold them all until 995p and risk missing a 3% trade on the ones I bought on 25th April?

long term - this is the bit that really floats my boat!

...............................
He said rising trade among emerging markets and growth prospects in China, India and beyond had forced other banks to move into areas HSBC considered what he called its "homelands".

"China's outward direct investment will be an enormous phenomenon, and we've only just seen the beginning of it," he said.

Malkie - Thanks for that. Here's hoping things work out.

Judging by the lunchtime fall I thought he had said something less positive than that.

If there is a decent chartist on this thread, I think they might tell us that the inverted hammer suggests HSBC are going down tomorrow.

OK Malkie you're forgiven, but what are you doing to the share price. I left the thread to go into a meeting at 11.00 and came out at 12.00, and look what has happened.
