Yes Gateside. I've been out most of the day and it was good to see some progress when I got back.

good to see HSBA have a positive finish on a poor day for the markets

Thanks MIATA - I've adjusted my figures by 17.5p so perhaps that is a little generous.

No and yes (respectively). As mentioned in January (post 63) it will be at least 16.5p.

Dividend amounts in sterling (as shown by other websites) are shown in the header.

However the actual conversion from dollars to sterling "will be at exchange rates quoted by HSBC Bank plc in London at or about 11 am on 2 May 2006".

So approx 970p becomes our benchmark tomorrow.

Anything above 970p and we basically up on the day.

Yes I'm still here, but I never mind collecting dividends.

The reason I asked about the dividend to be paid in sterling is that any adjustment in the price tomorrow can only be an approximation. 31c divided by 1.75 = 17.7p, so I guess we will see a drop of about 18p in the morning other things being equal (which they never are).

Ken... I always assumed they took the exchange rate on the day when it is paid... but I may well be wrong.

I take it you still hold and will be invested in HSBA for a while as they did not brake £10 and reach your target?

Quite a change for HSBC to out perform the other High Street banks.

They go XD tomorrow, but does anybody know how much the dividend actually is in Sterling or when it will be announced?

This is said to be the signal for 9 shares

Does it look like 'it's going down so get out' to you?

More 1,000,000 sales still going through.

It's Crazy - There is much discussion about signal trades and I have no idea whether they actually do take place.

A sale of 9 HSBC went through, immediately followed by sales of 700,000 and 1,000,000. Then the price dropped accordingly.

HSBA will have its day. Supermum has been advising me on this one and its just not ready yet. Buy on a break of 1000. SM has been calling a load right recently.

Tech... HSBA's exposure to The Far East and China is one of the things which attracted me to the company. Just venting a little frustration because I switched into HSBA after selling Alliance & Leicester way too soon. But my investing style is to Buy & Hold, and HOLD is what I will do... just need to be patient.
