07/2/2006 09:33 | The People's Bank of China has dropped HSBC from its list of financial institutions approved as dealers on the primary bond market this year, the central bank-backed Financial News reports. | miata
07/2/2006 09:25 | Ken..its looking good! (9.24am!) | dgf
06/2/2006 18:02 | A good day tomorrow and we will have broken through into the next Gann level | kenbachelor

03/2/2006 12:23 | Verynervy - I've been out all morning, but welcome aboard. Going in the right direction at this moment. | kenbachelor
03/2/2006 09:05 | Well for what its worth Ken I`ve jumped aboard now and am in for the long ride, unless it zooms into space. I know its the year of the dog in china but think it has to be the year of the bank in the UK soon! | verynervy
02/2/2006 20:21 | I've just drawn a Gann Fan onto the HSBC chart and we have closed this evening at 930p, right on the 1 x 3 line. Either we break to a lower level or we bounce from here, which is the most likely scenario. I will try to keep the chart updated and put a link to it in the header for anyone interested. | kenbachelor
27/1/2006 11:41 | Thanks MIATA ~ I knew there must have of been a logical reason | gateside
27/1/2006 11:29 | F.A.Q.'s Q - Why does HSBC have the epic HSBA rather than HSBC? A - When the shareprice was getting a bit 'heavy' (2260p) in July 1999, HSBC decided to have a capital reorganisation and issued three new 'A' shares of USD 0.50 for each ordinary share of GBP 0.75. To distinguish which was being traded the new shares were given the epic code HSBA. | miata
27/1/2006 11:08 | Gateside - In one word 'NO', but I seem to recall HSBC being used by another type of share some years ago. Dow - I think that would mean using the newer charts and that would be a nightmare. I'm trying to get advfn to tell me how to get the UB81 chart to update since the epic was changed to NMX8350, but I don't think they can do it themselves so what hope do I have. This is what they have managed at the moment. | kenbachelor
27/1/2006 10:53 | Thanks Ken. In the US, HSBC also competes with Citigroup and this is a really good heads-up for what will happen to HSBC in the UK the following day (C rose 100 odd cents yesterday). I know you are a whizz with the charts Ken so NYSE:HBC, NYSE:C, NYSE:SCBFF might show you the way it will go. | dow
27/1/2006 10:50 | Anyone know why the EPIC code for HSBC is HSBA? Seems a bit odd to me | gateside
27/1/2006 10:43 | I've added a chart comparing HSBC with the mortgage banks, so as Dow hasn't responded I'll change the major banks chart to include STAN instead of AL.! | kenbachelor
27/1/2006 10:31 | Ken, i presume Dow is after STAN being in the charts. It's your call on what's the header. | gateside
27/1/2006 10:28 | There is a limit to how many epics I can use, but I can easily add another chart for the mortgage banks. | kenbachelor
27/1/2006 10:24 | I'm happy with AL. in the charts as it help me to compare how HSBA are doing compared to the one of the three main mortgage banks (Alliance & Leicester, Bardford & Bingley, Northern Rock) in the UK. | gateside
27/1/2006 10:21 | Which epic would you like me to substitute for AL.? | kenbachelor
27/1/2006 10:19 | There are only two sizeable banks in the Far East Ken. | dow
27/1/2006 10:17 | Dow, just remember dogs can bite back - just watch this space! | dgf
27/1/2006 10:17 | Dow - It's a long time since I've been into HSBC as I've been concentrating on BARC, but have held them many years ago. Which would you like me to substitute for AL.? | kenbachelor
27/1/2006 09:48 | Hullo Ken, Im surprised to see you have moved into HSBC, Ive always thought it a bit of a dog. Also very surprised that you have included AL, a relative minnow, and excluded HSBC's natural competitor from your comparisons. | dow
27/1/2006 09:19 | Gateside - I've added an intraday banks comparison chart and now you will see that RBS has taken off for you. | kenbachelor
27/1/2006 08:58 | HSBC is expected to reorganize its investment banking unit, dropping its co-head - per the WSJ. | miata
27/1/2006 08:24 | Gateside - It looks as if our luck has turned, as HSBC are at the top of todays banks movers at the moment. | kenbachelor |
