A thirty per cent increase in prices , two last year and one this and what will be lower trade sales has lead to a roughly eleven per cent increase in overall sales .

A good performance and in normal circumstances one might look forward to a better year but while the business has done well considering all the shipping issues (container costs up to £17k, which is crazy) is a strong result.

It is now clear to see why the big spend on website management as well (bringing them all together).

However, with China's policy of getting even more cosy with Russia I think it will not be to long before there are sanction's imposed on China, who themselves want to rule the world.

The price of Hornby's goods have gone through the roof and I can only see sales falling off as belts are tightened with interest rate rises.

Good Luck to those still holding or buying but I will give this a wide berth at the moment.

Clock ,
Missed your question .
1980 models , if working or useable have some value , best guide is to use eBay sold listings , must be exact match , but the oddest things have value , for example sold six small bits of mid sixties track about one and half inch long ea for twenty pounds recently whereas say 20 years ago I would have chucked them in the bin .

So they might be spending anything up to £1.5m over a 12 month period with Rawnet.

What impact will this amount have on the net figures and as to value for money that can only be gauged upon results for HRN stakeholders.

These related party transactions always seem to leave a bit of a grey area around the businesses imo.

Roll on the finial results but the last trading statement does not leave one with much longer term confidence, although we expect profits for 2022.

I wonder how low the share price might go?

Little wonder the shares are falling after that RNS HOLTS - "Hornby disclosed that Rawnet was a related party and it had paid Rawnet GBP722,252 for services provided during that financial year."

£722K - for what work exactly - working on the website or just supporting it?

These sorts of transaction with associated businesses make it look more like tunneling even if it is not imo.

I noted the RNS re Rawnet , if they are responsible for the Hornby website they should be shot .

I can see your point and I guess I like you will be missing out on a possible big rise, however the outlook and increasing costs are more concerning longer term. Not only that but the rising prices and possible sales fall now that lockdown will play no part in sales performance.

Tell me HOLTS, is there a decent market in secondhand Hornby Rail products - used and stored for around 40 years? None of it boxed or anything, just boxes of the basic stuff.

There certainly is resistance to their pricing , I still have a suspicion that they are underplaying their position to give a surprise to the upside in results , however not sufficiently convinced to buy back in at this level .

With price increases like that, it will only drive more customers to look for better value product, and as for the corner cutting on things like leaving the steps, its disappointing and not only does the loss of reputation occur but credibility also.

Surprised that the share price has risen but the volume is low.

What the buyers do not have seem to have read, is the problems with cost increases, the supply chain etc let alone the things you point out HOLTS.

Worse to come imo - after the finial results may come the really bad news.

BEWARE! but good luck to anyone holding or buying as I hope I am wrong, as I do not like to see HRN in trouble.

There are some weak excuses in that statement, they probably should be saying we have found the tipping point where too many customers will no longer stomach the prices and our more nimble competitors are now beginning to make a more significant inroad to our market .

Someone likes it though .

Anyone have a clue what's going on with Hornby at the moment? They seem on a spiral of not talking about... anything. Sacking the Reps. Stores getting E-mails about the Humbrol Enamel paints being illegal, The whole Lion fiasco, what's going on with the CEO position. It's like they've bunkered down for something and are just avoiding contact.

HOLTS - Next they will close all retailers accounts, that do not fit in with their corporate culture.

I experience this before in a another retail sector, even though it was the largest account in X area - and a very big account but they thought they were gods - three years later - they went broke. I think you can imagine my reaction when I heard the news. :-)

I have seen these sorts of things over many years, and they never end well, I could tell you so many stories that it would fill books, all the way from the sixties.

HOLTS - As always that was a great post from yourself, though I read it a while ago, I just waited to see where the share price would go after my previous post.

Idiots that never learn, a little bit of success and they must think they know it all - I have seen this so many times over so many years and bar one, none of the others have turned out well.

The share price has not been this low for sometime but with all the world wide issues and China asking to be excluded from the decent world by their actions in supporting aggression plus high freight rates, I think the writing is on the wall for HRN.

I can see no end to the slide, so will be keeping clear but still following.

Not at all Holt, you make a series of excellent points. It's just a crying shame that Hornby don't think consistently about quality.

I would not say it was hidden away but I view it is good news at this time. He had sold his share of his remaining business, turned HRN around and can now sit in the Chair and focus on how to unload the whole package at a satisfactory price that the main shareholder will be happy with imo.

As for the current share price we can each take our own view but I think it is over priced on the forward looking basis.

As HOLTS pointed out, big price hikes, people going back to the office and spending on things like holidays and eating out, rather than on toy trains and cars and other toys and craft goods.

However the 2021 figures should be good - so take your pick, it could shoot up but thinking longer term I would pencil in 30p at best if not sold by this time in 2023.

Lyndon Davies stepping down is a piece of bad news. Or not?

This developement was hidden away in today's announcement:

That was very interesting HOLTS but as you say I think the numbers will be good and it is heading back up again. Back past 60p this time I expect.

Its 2022 one needs to worry about with such big increases in prices imo.
