08/11/2021 13:37 | In light of the volume of buying, do you think that one of the very large US toy companies might put in a bid, as it is unusual to see such volume without news. | clocktower
08/11/2021 13:29 | A bumper Christmas then HOLTS, no wonder the share price is flying today, target back up to 70p to be near former highs, hopefully it will pass that. | clocktower
08/11/2021 13:11 | There is a better flow of product now , be interesting to see any signs of position in results report . | holts
08/11/2021 10:45 | Maybe the rise is due to Scalextric being named a top selling toy by John Lewis for this Christmas. One of Hornby's many brands. | clocktower
08/11/2021 10:06 | Building up steam early this week. Good early Christmas trading might really get this on track for a bumper run imo. | clocktower
04/11/2021 11:59 | Nice solid buying again with a trade of 48k which is pretty big for this stock. | clocktower
03/11/2021 15:37 | Very odd those three trades of 3k timed at the same time this morning, I purchased only one 3k lot at that time at 41.7p. Someone got 19.5k at 42p which I guess was part of the order being filled earlier when the bid was 41p | clocktower
03/11/2021 09:26 | The MM must have a order to fill seeing the bid is not moving, even after a couple of sells of fair size. Very narrow spread that I have not seen in a very long time on this stock. On the other hand, they might have been selling short and need to cover themselves, as the share price has risen slightly of late. A small bounce ahead of the expected news. | clocktower
01/11/2021 16:30 | Tell me something HOLTS please - How big a part of the business is Airfix and do they sell a lot of it overseas plus are they number one in this field? Tell you why I am asking, my grandson started making these models in lockdown and has carried on with the hobby. He tells me all his are Airfix and I looked on the website and I notice the range is extensive. | clocktower
18/10/2021 17:51 | It’s really the sluggishness at which product is coming through , there should be quite a flow but that does not seem to be the case , it may well accelerate it’s just an impression at present , most of their stuff comes through Thamesport I think. | holts
14/10/2021 14:12 | HOLTS - I am not a knowledgeable model train person but having taken a quick look at the companies website, it seems to me that they have a fair range of train sets in stock that might attract early Christmas shoppers. In fact across the range they seem to have decent stocks, although some items are pre-order but that is not unusual for Hornby imo. | clocktower
14/10/2021 09:58 | Your input has always been valued HOLTS but if there is a supply shortage, I suggest they may be able to clear any old stock and demand will increase from retailers keen to get their hands on stock. I also expect the companies own online offering will do well this Christmas. However, I take what you say very seriously as I value your knowledge of the business and the past problems were caused by mistreatment of their small retailers, and history does often repeat itself. I do think the next update will be good though. | clocktower
03/10/2021 20:40 | I suspect they may have a serious problem with supply for this crucial period . | holts
03/9/2021 18:47 | The current incumbent is there to feather his nest , the purchase of the remainder of Oxford I feel leaves him with less incentive . They continue to mess about their trade customers , they are being superseded in their trade market by a growing number of smaller more nimble suppliers . Their brand is weakened as a result it will eventually impact on that side of the business. | holts
22/8/2021 15:51 | [SharePad] Small-Cap Spotlight Report: HORNBY #HRN
"The return to profitability and those upbeat comments suggest the hardest part of the turnaround may have finally been accomplished." | tmfmayn
11/6/2021 19:14 | They are up to too much to the detriment of their trade customers , despite any hot air to the contrary , I feel it’s going to bite them . Additionally there are now significant small ‘manufacturers Hornby have already fallen out with one of their larger trade customers as a result , not an issue at present as their are supply issues but despite what Hornby think they are still not connected to the main end user . Still a profit is better than a loss , continue to shaft your trade customers at you peril would be my view . | holts
10/6/2021 14:47 | Good publicity. | clocktower
10/6/2021 08:06 | Well, I have had a brief sift through the accounts - very impressive and well done to all at HRN. What I do like is the transparency in the accounts and the detail they go into. As I said I have only had a brief look at them and will come back to them in due course. However, I still think there are more headwinds ahead as more of the working population head back to work, and although they report sales are still in line with expectations, I fear they may start to flounder a little. Still, a very positive turnaround and one that will most likely continue imo but at what pace is another matter. Slow and steady but not a huge upside at the moment is still my view. | clocktower
13/4/2021 15:57 | Whilst taking on board the comments about the changes impacting their traditional customers and retailers, post 227 above seems an overly negative speculative assessment given that the facts are 'Group sales for the 4th quarter were very encouraging and ahead of budget and the same period last year'. Is the change in strategy hurting them? Doesn't appear to have done so in Jan-Mar. If you believe what they say. Also if you want to discuss Net Cash, you need to look at a few more data points. The strong Jan-Mar 2021 quarter seems to be reflected in a rise in cash relative to Dec 2020. Dec 2019: net debt GBP9.9 million Feb 2020: raised £13.4 million March 2020: net cash GBP5.4 million Sep 2020: net cash GBP3.9 million Dec 2020: net cash GBP3.8 million March 2021: net cash GBP4.7 million | photon
13/4/2021 09:33 | Good results but HOLTS comments back in Jan were right on the button, and I fear they will now loose the goodwill of many. Good luck to those still holding but I believe the upside is very limited at present and the risk to the company are now greater. Reduction in Net Cash has to be noted, though small it is. | clocktower
13/4/2021 06:56 | This may be an appropriate occasion to observe that the train is leaving the station! | photon
13/3/2021 22:39 | They may be suffering on exports to the EU ? Anyone got a feel on this? | podgyted
12/3/2021 13:00 | To add to the negative their new website is even worse than the old and that takes some doing | holts
01/2/2021 19:18 | Noteworthy trade reported after the bell today of 55,555 shares @ 54p dated last Friday. Someone seems confident - it's a pity it hasn't been reflected in the share price yet but will hopefully bode well at least in short term. | gleach23
28/1/2021 14:57 | I also sense the beginning of a dismissal of their retailers again , they have removed settlement discount to them , note also in the statement part re direct sales , whilst preventing retailers from setting their own price on new product but giving a ten per cent discount from their own site, poor returns handling to name but a few . Sounds ok for shareholders you would think but they still have poor understanding of their railway customers at least | holts |
