MRF - I think you have got it all wrong. The retailers you speak of will not have the clout to keep producing new products, due to the huge investment needed for tooling - with set up costs of around £100k for a new model and unlike HRN they only have their own outlets to move the products through.

I think HRN would be wise to now move out of retailing online by way of an agreed concession to these two large retailers, on the basis that they remove themselves from design, investment in new competitive products, to heal the wounds that the retailers will not forgive the unless HRN make amends. Otherwise it will come back to bite them, as I believe they would not shed a tear if HRN folded, as HRN did the dirty on them and continue to do so by being suppliers and retailers.

Watched James Mays prog yesterday. That certainly lay bare what years of miss management at Hornby had led too. I always thought the destination was simply the eradication of the company, but it was possible to see the consequences were so much deeper including retailers having to undertake their own design and manufacturing. The corporate world needs to hang its head in shame !

Dont hold your breath with this one my old son , the share price is never going to rise to any great degree until they bring out new toys that the younger generation really want and that they can sell worldwide in great volume ,and as yet they cant crack that puzzle , having said that i believe they are really trying , lego seemed to have cracked it but as yet hornby just cant unlock the code as it were ,

they are involved in the harry potter and marvel parafanalia which might just be there savior in years to come ---

With the share price now starting to rise, it seems confidence is returning, and to top that the chart is once again starting to look more positive, and look like a strong buy.

Harsh words HOLTS but very true in many respects but we have more positives to look forward too over the coming Christmas period if the expected confidence returns to the small retailers, and they take steps to stock up to meet the demands that TV programs ( be generating.

It will only be a failure on retailers part, if they do not place sufficient orders to promote their businesses, as future customers orders are likely to follow if they support the efforts of HRN in turn to support them, through the trading terms that have now been established.

May soon see this back towards 40p imo - with a good Christmas it could zip up much higher based on today`s news.

Truly does seem to be back on the track now. Well done to the management and staff.

Seems to me to be a total lack of vision. While they have taken a lot of strides to get the product rolling at the right time and at prices that meet price points, and built back more trust with smaller retails, they still have not grasped the bull by the horns.

They clearly do not even have a clue when it comes to marketing and running websites that only focuses on each brand but a website that is multi-branded, selling all the companies products and encouraging cross selling for starters.

Used the Brands in the Games market to name but two openings that they seem to have no idea how to address.

We do seem to have a small number of sells followed by a large buy a week or 2 later.
Gone are the days when we had frequent news updates.

Unless they can increase sales at a decent margins, the road will be long and hard bar new products and ideas imo. While collectors and nerds might be the main customers for Hornby, they need to come up with a better plan that will add real growth.

While the CEO has done a good job getting rid of the clowns that were heading up the business, he still needs a vision for the future that is not all about trains.

Look interesting. HRN one of those hobbies that might be getting popular with social media. Small regular purchases is what it needs, then it can be the next GAW.

Here's an example of a youtuber that is the HRN free marketing arm

Well the share price is well supported, so the Wizardry of The Hogwarts Express must be doing the trick and is Scalextric making a comeback as well?

Harry Potter maybe the magic Hornby was missing.

sales are picking up slightly as hornby have added new toys to there range , i believe they have the rights to make and sell the harry potter parafanalia , along with some of the marvel comics stuff , also a new range of robust corgi kiddies cars called " chunkies" at a very reasonable £7 a pop that are much better than there dinky car range , they no longer offer massive discounts on there stock , not to mention they have got rid of alot of dead wood in there offices which must eventually help the bottom line ,

will all this turn hornby around ? indeed it is a good start , and they certainly need to add more things like this to kick start a real turn around ,strongly believe left to there tired old train set and scalextric cars that have been decimated by the digital age they will go bust sooner rather than later --

While the company is loss making, it seems to me from the RNS that having stated that sales were lower in H1 - it suggests that sales were at least as good as the previous year in H2,if not better and at improved margins.

So it may well be that things are turning around for the better but in view of the High Street woes at present I doubt that there will be much to celebrate in the coming year.

So imo the stock is still well over valued at this time.

Margins are improving and losses are significantly less than previous year. It appears that the new management are finally putting a stop to the rot.
