ALGO trades are at it again, pushing the price down. This dispite gvc posting almost flawless results and double digits growth! I expect we are close to the bottom.

It's a quiet time of the year. No major sporting events, next dividend is months away and US revenues are a few years away.

Saying that, I still bought a few more today purely as a trade. Looks massively oversold on the charts and we should get a boost from a Christmas rally if nothing else.

The long term uptrend now being threatened, hard to understand given the potential in the USA.

It's got to be an ADVFN glitch doesn't it? They were all timed at outside normal trading hours.

e.g smaller operators without economy of scale harder hit by increase in uk remote gambling tax and the increasing costs associated with compliance and regulation. Some could become unprofitable and takeover targets.
Gvc is also growing organically taking market share from competitors.

Thanks for the slide and it is interesting although it doesn't address my question insofar as o was referring to competitors who have shops which would suffer but equally had an online business which would be interesting to GVC.I sincerely doubt Hills would be of interest (neither plausible via the CMA as far as retail goes), so what does it really leave which would make a meaningful contribution.Bet365 is a fabulous business but that is more likely to be gobbled up by one of the US players.Jackpotjoy is an interesting one as it is likely to start paying dividends next year having reduced its debt pile to a sensible ratio. It's taken a battering and back to list price and might give them something extra. Then again the proprietary software is licensed in (I believe) so it may be less valuable even if if trades well. All IMO and just making conversation really!

It's showing current mid-price as 945p now.

Just looked at some other random shares - they're showing unlikely 'current' prices too.

I'm it sure who the "lesser competitors" who participate in UK retail betting thus will suffer as a result of the legislation, yet have compelling enough online presence/offering to attract bids from GVC might be? Interested to hear any thoughts on consolidation within the sector.

So, there is clearly scope for paying larger and/or special dividends. There will also be scope to scale up GVC further as lesser competitors go to the wall next year due to FOBT and/or increased RGD. GVC may well be able to gobble them up on the cheap.

macarona,

"Should Ibas rule in favour of the three customers, this could lead to more punters that have had similar experiences with Ladbrokes also come forward in search of a payout." Big deal. Even if there were hundreds, it is likely to be a comparative pittance to GVC.

Stockopedia use a "fully diluted" EPS figure which acts to lower the EPS.

It could take forever arguing to and fro ......

So GVC dividend cover is over 2.

Have a good weekend.

hawaly,

Your figures are just plain wrong - see coxsmn above. Dividends are of the rough order of 50% of the EPS. Stop trying to mislead people,

Edison shows the estimated figures as
12/18e EPS 72.6p DPS 32p
12/19e EPS 70.9p DPS 34p
12/20e EPS 64.7p DPS 36p

Is the 'cancelled bets payments' something to worry about?
What is the likelihood of ladbrokes being found to be in the wrong?

Below, dividend cover 24.9/16=1.56x or 2x using adjusted EPS

from September 13th results:

Whichever way it's described, GVC dividend as a portion of earning per share.

EPS/DPS = 0.25/0.36 = 0.69

Figures above from Stockopedia Trailing Twelve Month data.

Just an alternative view of the >4% yield.

It would be 'for balance' if correct. Gvc pays a percentage of net profits as a dividend.

Div cover currently 0.7 (just for balance).
