Ironic really. Growing left right and centre but now at a record 12 month low. Is this short selling?

Disco Dave,Just because a company is registered in a certain country, it doesn't mean that it's activities are in that country.GVC revenue is diversified from several continents and numerous countries. The most elementary of research on this share tells you that. You haven't done any have you?

Yes, after acquisition. No surprise here except for the fall in share price 888 up today and they will be worst hit. Annoying really.

Loganair. I'm being serious when I say that on some of my darker days, when I was hopelessly addicted to the FOBTs, I contemplated that as a way out. Only fleetingly mind.In the end, I realised that buying shares in the bookies and receiving dividends was infinitely preferable to giving them money.

I notice today the BBC are pushing very hard about gambling addiction and how so many men are committing suicide due to the shame of their addiction and do not know of any other way out of their gambling addiction.

Thanks coxmn.Who's analysis/views was that, citing 2%?, did that include Ladbrokes?. Sorry for more questions, just seemed fairly low to me given that they are registered 100% overseas - unless I'm missing the obvious.DD

Just started to look at these. With next weeks budget in mind, can anybody tell me what the likely increase in offshore gaming duty will have on the group - Ladbrokes has online operations in Gibraltar and GVC is registered in the Isle of Man?.ThanksDD

Thanks.

Here's another

Yes, the profits of offshore online business conducted in the UK are subject to the tax, not the overseas profits on overseas business. (AFAIK).

Was this known months ago? If so, why has the FT just produced the article??
If so, why has the share price of all the online gamblering cos dropped like a stone - of course, they have been dropping for some time - Insider trading at work as usual??

CM.

"The remote gaming duty was originally brought in several years ago as a way to level the fiscal playing field between UK-based gambling groups and their competitors offshore. It applies to the gross profits of any gambling company with UK-based customers."

I read this as meaning that the remote gaming duty would be (and already is) levied against any gambling profits that are gained from UK based customers. It would apply to offshore operators (such as GVC). I can't see how it can be levied on GVC's overseas profits. They are already paying taxes on those profits in the various countries that they operate in.

https://www.ft.com/content/ff48900e-d3c4-11e8-a9f2-7574db66bcd5"The gaming industry is braced for Mr Hammond to lift the remote gaming duty from its current level of 15 per cent of "gross gambling yield" - a measure of profit - to 20-25 per cent. FOBTs are currently taxed at 25 per cent. That could be enough to raise about £1bn over half a decade for the government's coffers. The remote gaming duty was originally brought in several years ago as a way to level the fiscal playing field between UK-based gambling groups and their competitors offshore. It applies to the gross profits of any gambling company with UK-based customers."

Thanks for the kind responses to my post.So you are saying that the increase in tax on overseas online operations and not just Uk based tax has been widely known for months. What then explains why gambling stocks have been marked down at least 5% today?I wait with baited breath for pearls of wisdom .CM

The fall today is a nonsense. Increase in uk gambling duty has been known about for months and gvc would be least affected compared to peers. 888 has fallen less than gvc and they would be the most hit in the sector.

CM - I can see with in 5 years the UK will represent no more than 25% for GVC...around 500 retail shops closing and the opening up in the USA will reduce GVC's exposure.
