12/12/2024 14:45 | Maliki - "He concluded by warning against the "American, Turkish, and Zionist influences" targeting a new map for the Middle East." So much for Maliki being dead, he doesn't look dead here, although sometimes with Maliki it can be hard to tell. And I wouldn't be surprised if this new American, Turkish and Zionist map of the Middle East that he talks about included plans for Kurdistan. With Iran and it's proxies having been severely weakened and Trump about to take office now would probably be a good time to do it. Kurdish oil & gas would be a huge prize for Turkey and the West. Only today Nechirvan Barzani has receive delegations from the British and German defence ministries including the Head of the British Military and the German Minister of Defence himself. There's no doubt that Iran and it's supporters like Maliki are worried about what's going on, and they have every reason to be. Today - SLC leader highlights security readiness, accuses Turkiye of contributing to Assad’s downfall. Shafaq News/ On Thursday, the leader of the State of Law Coalition (SLC), Nouri al-Maliki, stated that Iraq’s security forces are capable of countering challenges posed by the remnants of ISIS and the Baath Party amid escalating regional instability. In a televised interview, Al Maliki affirmed, “Iraq is a democratic country with peaceful power transitions, and there are agreements in place with the Coordination Framework and the State Administration Coalition,” adding that Iraq was founded on the constitution and that the country’s path must remain in line with the constitution and legal frameworks. The SLC leader also highlighted that the "Zionist project" seeks to divide the countries surrounding the Israeli occupation, noting that the Iraqi people are aware that they will bear the cost of any crisis or conflict in the region. He further stated, "With the Popular Mobilization Forces and the fatwa of the religious authority, we managed to defeat the dangerous ISIS project," stressing that cooperation among the country’s security forces ensures Iraq is prepared to tackle any emerging dangers. Al-Maliki also accused Turkiye of playing a role in the downfall of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, describing the Syrian crisis as an unexpected collapse that had broader regional implications. He mentioned that the crisis aimed to stir unrest within Iraq, adding that internal factors in the country also need reconsideration. He concluded by warning against the "American, Turkish, and Zionist influences" targeting a new map for the Middle East, and cautioning about the remnants of ISIS and the Baath Party's sleeper cells in the desert. | habshan

11/12/2024 20:29 | "All the oil belongs to the people of Iraq!!! Kurdistan is in Iraq and therefore the oil belongs to all of Iraq." That's correct Sarah, we all know that. And when the Kurds export and sell Kurdish oil that means that when they export say $1.6 billion a month then Baghdad won't need to send them their budget share of $1.6 billion a month. That money will stay in the Iraqi treasury where the ICG can spend it in Federal Iraq. It's a very simple concept that even you should be able to understand. The more oil & gas the Kurds export the less money Baghdad will need to send them. So ALL the people of Iraq will benefit from Kurdish exports because Kurdish oil belongs to ALL the people of Iraq. It means that once the Kurds become financially independent Baghdad won't need to send them any money. The Federal Government certainly understands it, but the word Federal is the problem, Iraq is a Federal country but there are those in Baghdad who don't want a Federal system they want a centralised system where everything, including Kurdistan is controlled by the shia arabs in Baghdad. The Kurds will never let that happen, they want financial independence. And with the Prime Minister's confirmation that the contracts are legal, the aspiration of the shia arabs to control the Kurdish oil industry has been left in tatters. So what is it you don't understand. | habshan

11/12/2024 20:15 | All the oil belongs to the people of Iraq!!! Kurdistan is in Iraq and therefore the oil belongs to all of Iraq. No second reading, no vote, all pushed back to next year!!! Then the Independent consultants have to look at all the producers and their production and transport costs with 60 days allocated for that. (There may not have been any requirement for that if Erbil had provided all the details of the PSC's!!!) Why no transparency if all is above board?? If there is no agreement with their findings that then reverts back to Baghdad for a decision. More delays, more numbers, more disagreements and it will be break out the biscuits yet again!! However, you're all banking on the KRG doing a deal with Turkey next September that excludes Baghdad? Lol, lol, lol. | bigdog5 |
