Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to resume oil exports through SOMO.

France has sent a number of oil companies to Kurdistan to support the resumption of oil exports to Turkey.

Kamal Mohammed Salih, Minister of Natural Resources has met with the French Consul General in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG). According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Kamal Mohammed thanked the French government for its support and efforts to quickly resume oil exports from the Kurdistan Region by pipeline to the Turkish port, which has been suspended since March 23,

"There are many signs that the Kurdistan Region will resume oil exports through SOMO in the new year and is currently in the process of amending an article of the budget law," the minister said.
The French consul said that a number of large companies from his country have come to the Kurdistan Region, especially oil companies.

In response, the Minister of Natural Resources said that the resumption of oil exports is very important for the economy of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and will solve a large part of the budget deficit.

GKP goes up, GKP goes down, GKP will go up again. The politics is still a mess, but I think we are considerably closer to a solution than where we were 12 months ago. Despite the delay there is continued news flow that they are trying to reach a solution. Add this to the fact that there has definitely been a demystification recently from both KRG and ICG of the fact that the IOCs have genuine legal financial entitlements... ie they aren't about to unilaterally alter the contracts to suit their agenda, and I'm happy to continue to wait. No debt. Healthy dividends. Continued demand for oil.
