We are all focussed on September but in reality we could start pumping through the ITP next week. The fines that could be imposed are chicken feed compared to what the ICG would face if we decide to go down that route of suing them for lost revenue etc.

Meanwhile the pipe remains shut, losses to the Iraqi treasury are currently some $24 billion and rising because Kurdistan continues to export 3-400kbpd without Baghdad seeing a penny of it, Iraq remains without a northern export route and BP will be getting concerned.

And Nouri al-Maliki who aspires to be the next Prime Minister couldn't care less.

There's a general election next year and Maliki's ONLY goal is to make Sudani look as bad and ineffective as possible in the eyes of the electorate.

Sudani is far more interested in developing the economy, creating jobs, building infrastructure, trying to reduce energy imports from Iran to zero and developing economic ties with Turkey. The Iraqi public recognise all that which is why he's so popular and is why Malaki et al are afraid of him.

"Biden, Sudani agree Kurdistan is integral to Iraq's prosperity."

So Maliki is out to get him.

Yes once the Kurds have given ICG the finger and have organised thier own export Maliki will look like the total waste is space he is and maybe he will end his days like Saddam which is what he deserves.
