07/12/2024 13:39 | The problem with the Iraqis is that they have no expectations of thier politicians since there have been so many total waste of spaces. There needs to be a turnaround for hope to return, | nestoframpers
07/12/2024 13:34 | Good finds by all newshounds - so how much can we sue Iraq for? The misery and stress that Maliki and his stooges has caused over many years needs to be addressed - he should be brought to an International court to explain himself and take the punishment he deserves. | spark plug

07/12/2024 12:46 | The catalyst in this game must be the public admission by Sudani that the Kurdish PSC's are in line with the Constitution and therefor perfectly legal. ( I dont believe this was an accident) This then legitimises Kurdish Oil & gas to the rest of the Industry. This is extremely important because it reduces the Investment Risk in their eyes and is possibly what they have been waiting for. IMO | highlander7
07/12/2024 12:06 | That visit was just prior to BP agreeing a Memorandum of Understanding with the ICG to develop Kirkuk & associated fields on 1st August 2024 ✅ BP have cracked on way beyond that now ✅ 16 wells have been reconnected & a 2.8 mile pipeline has been built ✅ They are ready to pump in early 2025 ✅ | steephill cove

07/12/2024 10:16 | I wonder if BP have preferred bidder status in Kurdistan as a reward for taking on Kirkuk? Sudani stated in parliament that a British consultant would assess IOC costs! Effectively they will have access to all IOC data rooms! I wonder if we will find any link between consultants and BP? | kevc67
07/12/2024 10:14 | Sudani declaring publicly that the KRG contracts are legal & enforceable has sharpened the pencils of all KRG IOC legal teams & APIKUR 👨b Maliki now publicly ousted as the blocker & his meddling with the Ceyhan port loading & the Iraq Supreme Courts previous ruling is toast ✅ ICG have to open the pipeline NOW ⏰⏳ | steephill cove
07/12/2024 10:01 | Join the dots GKP LTHs 💪 BP dont go to work without concrete reassurances from their legal team, which would have been in direct consultation with the Iraq Central Government about the pipeline reopening ✅ Maliki can kick off all he likes but he has finally been outmanoeuvred & he is history 👋 | steephill cove
07/12/2024 09:48 | And its BP doing all the work for NOC ✅ The Iraq Turkey pipeline simply has to be reopened to accommodate the oil from Kirkuk & Bai Hassan as well as KRG oil from the IOC fields including GKP ✅ Cheerio Maliki 👋 | steephill cove
07/12/2024 09:46 | 16 wells reactivated. A 2.8 mile pipeline built to connect it all. 3 concrete & steel crossings in rugged & undulating areas, built to international standards, to facilitate increased crude oil production. BP invested an awful lot of time & expense only to find out that it’s all landlocked by APIKUR 😭✅\ | steephill cove
07/12/2024 09:45 | The Bai Hassan oil field is adjacent to & runs alongside Kirkuk ✅ So BP (For NOC) have reactivated 16 wells & built a 2.8 mile pipeline to connect it all? ✅ It can only go one way = North & into the Iraq 🇮🇶 Turkey 🇹🇷 pipeline which goes through Kurdistan 👍 They better get a jig on to reopen it! 😭⏰\ | steephill cove
07/12/2024 09:43 | From a good guy on Lse RE: MeetingToday 09:35 Starsalign - listen to the video in this tweet which is dubbed in English. Half way through he says the international consultant is of British origin hxxps://x.com/acrypt It’s also in the video where he says that Iraqi courts have deemed the contracts to be legal. | beernut1
07/12/2024 09:19 | Surprising the Iraqi people havent demanded Malikis head . He orchestrated the appalling withdrawal from Mosul . 4000 strong Iraqi forces ran away from 400 isis resulting in Yazidi slaughter and the near collapse of Iraq. He and Erdogan did the pipeline law outlawing export from Cehayan, he is obsessed with having a boot on the Kurds neck. A sick man. | nestoframpers
07/12/2024 06:53 | highlander - "If parliament dont support Sudani and support Maliki then they are all subject to the same potential consequences as Maliki. Hence the announcement that Kurdish PSC's are legal all along." Yes, Sudani is the Prime Minister and the Head of Government and he confirmed that the courts have ruled the PSCs are legal, which is a statement of fact. That section of his speech to Parliament covering the Kurdish oil export issue has been released to the world and is now all over the internet so it can't be unsaid. The whole world now knows that the Iraqi government considers that the PSCs are legal and have always been legal and that the ruling by the so called "Supreme Court" was politically motivated. Those PSCs give the IOCs the legal right to export their oil and they also have a legal right to have the terms of those PSCs honoured. For not allowing the IOCs to export puts the ICG in breach of contract. It's very hard to see what excuse could now be dragged up for refusing to allow exports now that the PM has declared the PSCs legal, and as determined by the courts (the English High Court and the Paris Court of International Arbitration) they are legal because the Kurds have the right under the Constitution to manage their own oil & gas industry and sign their own contracts on behalf of the Iraqi government. And those contracts were signed with the full authority afforded them under the constitution. Maliki was Prime Minister from 2006-2014 which is when the PSCs were signed, so if he continues to contest them he'll be contesting legally valid contracts that were signed under his leadership by an arm of the Iraqi government with the full authority of the Iraqi State, so he is ultimately responsible for them. Sudani's declaration that the contracts are legal puts his opponents in a real bind and Maliki needs to stop digging, he's just getting in deeper and deeper. There's no going back and the IOCs legal departments will be sharpening their pencils and paying very close attention to what happens next. As you say, interesting times. | habshan
07/12/2024 06:46 | Good thinking ! | shortsqueezer
07/12/2024 06:29 | It also sounds like a trap. If parliament dont support Sudani and support Maliki then they are all subject to the same potential consequences as Maliki. Hence the announcement that Kurdish PSC's are legal all along. He has set them up. | highlander7
07/12/2024 04:50 | "It sounds to me as if he is after Maliki." Indeed, there's a power struggle going on and we're in the middle of it, we need to hope that Sudani comes out on top. Sudani has been trying to drag Iraq away from Iran which is why Malaki has been trying to oust him. Kurdistan Watch. Political Rivalry or Syria Concerns: What's Really Delaying the Second Reading of the KRG Oil-related Budget Amendment Bill? Political maneuvering appears to be one of the reasons behind the delayed reading of the budget amendment bill that would enable the resumption of the KRG oil exports. The delay seems to be orchestrated by former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's bloc, amid an intense power struggle between al-Maliki and the current Iraqi Prime Minister. Atwan al-Watwani, head of the Iraqi Parliament's Finance Committee and a close ally of al-Maliki, orchestrated the removal of the bill's second reading from the parliamentary agenda. This move came just one day after the Prime Minister personally urged parliament to expedite the amendment's passage. The official justification for the delay is the absence of Iraq's finance minister, who is currently abroad and, according to the committee, needs to be present to discuss the bill's details. However, this explanation raises questions, as the first reading of the bill proceeded without such concerns. Another factor potentially influencing the delay is the broader regional context, particularly developments in Syria. Shia blocs have also stalled a separate amnesty bill for Sunni prisoners, reflecting heightened sectarian sensitivities. The amendment, if passed, would require Iraq to allocate funds from its sovereign budget to cover KRG oil production costs. Behind the scenes, leaders may be reluctant to commit these resources as they closely monitor the unfolding situation in Syria, which could demand financial or political recalibrations. In the coming days, it will become clear whether the amendment moves forward or if the issue becomes further politicized, with al-Maliki leveraging the situation to undermine Prime Minister al-Sudani’s position. | habshan
07/12/2024 04:45 | john@john "Parliament will meet on Sunday. No agenda yet, but it's expected to include second reading of budget amendment as Finance Minister will be back." | habshan
07/12/2024 04:34 | It sounds to me as if he is after Maliki . Who was PM for a decade or more of this farce. This isnt just a compensation issue it could be a legal issue as well. Knowingly and deliberately persecuting the Kurdish minority will have consequences under International Law. Its a political move . He is making Maliki the scapegoat (or trying to) Which is why Maliki is wriggling. Interesting times IMO | highlander7
07/12/2024 00:35 | -Sudani yesterday in Parliament - "The courts have ruled the existing contracts with IOC's are formal contracts and can't be revoked (despite previous threats of this by Iraq)"-lol. Another nail in the coffin of the risible bigdog. | pittcock
07/12/2024 00:30 | Sudani not Susan lol! | pittcock |
