square1 I agree but I still think that sentiment was dented; especially so following the recent dramatic share price fall. Anyway; let's end on a positive note: hxxps://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-08-23-elite-dangerous-next-sizeable-season-3-content-update-arrives-next-week

czeck- with respect the Tencent news was of little or no importance to FDEV. A temporary problem on a Chinese platform that FDEV do not use is not something that has any financial impact on FDEV. The Tencent relationship is a long term one that we hope will produce easier access to Chinese market in the future and that remains unchanged.

KWS and GAW have both done very well so I cannot see a shift in market sentiment just yet in the gaming industry. Tencent was bad news for FDEV for sure and maybe people got a little too over exited by dinosaurs...

rar100, the company doesn't decide the share price and has no direct effect on it - only indirect by making money or losing money influencing people to buy or sell their shares. Over the last couple of months more people decided to sell than buy despite the RNS. I think those people who are selling are wrong but clearly they don't agree with me and so I'm less wealthy (on paper) than I was a couple of months ago. I certainly don't blame FDEV for it or expect them to do anything about it or than keep working hard and achieve good results which they seem to be doing. Their plan to grow seems to be going pretty well - the share price is currently 5 times what it was 2 years ago. Let's see how well they continue to execute that plan going forward. If you're not convinced then sell up.

Endion is right. The share price was already under £14 when they announced an upgrade on expectations on the 3rd July. Then fell from £13 to &12 on the day they announced 1m sales of JWE.

What would you like them to say?

The share price wasnt £18 when they released the 1m sales RNS, it was significantly lower than that already. So there has been news since £18. That and also a trading update saying that both elite and planet coaster have performed better than expected. Maybe your frustration is clouding your memory.

The company have not said anything that I know of since the "1 million sales" RNS and since the share price has gone from £18 to £9.76.
I think the crash tells a lot about the company

Unbelievable or perhaps not that some still do not have a clue about the company and its model. Why invest in the first instance!

Exactly - I didn't see anybody moaning when it was flying to 18 - perhaps the company could of issued an RNS then to say - too soon !

Loathe is a strong word for a company that have been very transparent with their projected income, future outlook and trading updates. Just because the market hasnt reacted the way we feel it should have done isnt the companies fault. What would you expect they could say? "Sorry the market wont let the share price rise... we already told you we've sold a shed load of games, and revenue is going to be better this year and next compared to expectations." I understand your frustrations, but as others have said, you've either got to look to the future or sell up.

Thanks for that link isayi, I'll put it up on the website when Im back from china.

Taking that number, and when they announced 1m sales, they must have sold circa 200k units per week for the first 5 weeks. Brilliant news.

Just reread the link, those were just ps4 and xbox sales, so not including steam. That would mean the initial sales in the first week was higher than 200k with a reduction in the following weeks allowing for 1m in 5, as is usual for game sales.

rar100If you feel that way then sell up and move on. Know how you feel, I'm 30% down, but have confidence in the company and IMO the story hasn't changed......it's your choice though and no advice intended.DD

The weather is not helping the gaming industry. People are preferring outdoor activities. We just need the colder season to begin.

I don't see what FDEV can do. They are making profits and releasing RNS containing good news. What else should they do?

FDEV need to address this crash in their bl00dy year end accounts.
The silence is deafening, by ignoring it they are making things worse imho.
I personally loathe everything about the company

I don't see any reason for a sentiment change against game developer stocks. I have put FDEV's fall down to profit taking which occurred despite the good news about JWE sales and that FDEV forecast their FY18 figures would be ahead of market expectations. Anyway, audited FY18 results will be released in less than 2 weeks - I'm hoping it might kick the share price awake sooner rather than later (which would be the next franchise reveal, I expect, late this year/early next year).

Thanks, isay - I assume those figures were captured within FDEV's 1 million sales that they announced on the 19th July. The difference between PS4 and Xbox One is very roughly accounted for by the different number of units of each console that have sold I think.

Take a look at paradox interactive and ea's share charts. Both companies took substantial hits this year. Take two is the only one I have found that managed to bounce back from its dip. Unless anyone knows of specific reasons for these dips, maybe there is some sort of market/industry wide sentiment change in the gaming sector this summer.

Yes, they'll be for employee share options - quite normal, nothing strange about it.

I very much doubt it. If so then it would be market manipulation of a quite severe level and criminal to boot.

If i understand it correctly these shares will be used for the company share option plans.

Thanks for the response to the query Edion. Yes had a read of Hastings article. Was helpful, as was the website that I think u shared a link to. Starting to get a better picture of who they are which is always key when riding volatility.

Scooper72, congrats on being able to catch a bottom yesterday! Historically, this share has seen retraces from peaks of around 30 - 40%, it reached 15.40 Late last year (on the back of JWE announcement) and then dropped to sub 10.00 before finding a support level and rising higher. It has bounced off the historic support level of circa 987p twice now in the past week, so I’m hoping this will continue to be the case on any further dips.

Have you looked at the company fundamentals and outlook for the future? If you have, then like many long term holders here, you won’t be in the slightest bit worried for the future of this share. Have a read of Hastings article that he psosted here recently if you would like another point of view from an LTH. Looking at a paper loss can be demoralising, I’ve been there, but during those times you need to look at where the company is heading. Having the patience and psychological resilience to wait it out and get back into the blue can end up being very worth it.

The current broker forecasts of £17 are based on JWE sales of 1.8m. Frontier sold 1m in five weeks, so this target is looking to be a baseline line bottom at best. If you include the income from past games, which are still performing better than expected, the news of the next franchise, and upcoming unannounced DLC for all games, then you could be seeing a fair amount of upside even from £17 in the next year.

Ok. Sorry. Thought it might me that. I've normally only heard the expression in context of pensions. Anyway. Good point about make sure one is happy about the choice of company and how the best ones can be seriously hammered. As a new investor here what gives me some reassurance is the fact that a big Chinese tech company has bought a sizeable share in the business.
