I sold last week, but still watching, concern is the new Govt. in Mexico, will they raise taxes, and Pinoles openly voiced his opposition to Obrador, that may count against this company, as register dominated by the majority shareholder, he is very powerful businessman in Mexico, time will tell. Certainly a play on silver price though!

If(big if)silver has bottomed, we should see some bottom being formed here over the coming weeks. No point in piling-in unless you're taking a long-term position.

As they would say on Bloomberg TV.
"I think we are going to see a 9 handle on the Fresnillo stock today"

This is interesting I think, everybody has heard of him, Jim Rogers.
It's just another bit of research like anything else.

However, from what I gather he believes we are in for a 'handsome rally'.
Then precious metals will drop again at some point as the dollar is seen as a safe haven .
Who knows?
It's upto the individual what they make of it but Fresnillo looks a good bet to me at this point.

Interesting times.

FOR THOSE NEW TO FRES

Fresnillo plc is the world's largest primary silver producer and Mexico's largest gold producer, listed on the

London and Mexican Stock Exchanges under the symbol FRES.

Fresnillo plc has seven operating mines, all of them in Mexico - Fresnillo, Saucito, Ciénega (including the San Ramón satellite mine), Herradura, Soledad-Dipolos(1) , Noche Buena and San Julián (phase I and II), two development projects - the pyrites plant, and second line of DLP at Herradura, and four advanced exploration projects - Orisyvo, Juanicipio, Las Casas Rosario & Cluster Cebollitas and Centauro Deep, as well as a number of other long term exploration prospects. In total, Fresnillo plc has mining concessions covering approximately 1.8 million hectares in Mexico and 700 thousand hectares in Peru.

Fresnillo plc has a strong and long tradition of exploration, mining, a proven track record of mine development, reserve replacement, and production costs in the lowest quartile of the cost curve for silver.

Fresnillo plc's goal is to maintain the Group's position as the world's largest primary silver company, producing 65 million ounces of silver per year by 2018, having already surpassed the gold target of 750,000 ounces.

(1 Operations at Soledad-Dipolos are currently suspended)

Well it will be interesting to see how this week unfolds after such a dramatic week last week.
However,I think that this will be higher than it is now at some point in the futureand that's the issue, whatever gold and silver do short-term.
I'm sure we are in for a bit of volatility yet..

Thanks for that LiveWire. I used to use SG for covered warrants until I wised-up to how they set the prices.

That was a timely top-up by First Eagle Investment Management.

Well SG have announced they are closing their 5x geared silver ETF - 5SIL. So that might be a good sign that silver has indeed bottomed - some financial organisations such as SG seem to open funds when they are in fashion (towards top / over-priced) and close they when things look 'bad' (towards bottom). Whenever silver moved quickly then the spread on the SG widened rapidly to unjustified amount. So I leant one lesson this yeat - not to use SG for silver ETF's .... Lets what FRES can do over next few months...

hazl, a trader I know personally now residing down-under did mention yesterday that two commodity traders he follows have called the bottom for silver. (yes, we've heard it all before and this time it's different etc.)
Skin in the game for me.

I have traded an ETF,in the past, in silver (PHAG) and bought silver dollars with the gain.
Didn't do it in any meaningful way and didn't keep, silver is tricky erik, don't you think?

There are many ways to play it,though agree.

So when do paper profits or losses become a reality or do you just hold until you die and then the same cycle repeats with the new holder ?
I've been trading FRES over recent months and turned paper gains, and some losses, into paper money to re-invest in physical silver.
