Yes, a paper loss is just the same as a paper profit... means nothing. It's your time horizon which will dictate what you end up crystallising

It's only a loss if you sell at that down price...it's just a number....I've got a few shares at the moment down 60% .. wait and don't panic easy to sleep with that mindset..If you haven't got that don't buy shares

Dogw. I like multi billion market cap FTSE100 companies, plus fres.l is the biggest silver miner in the world and I think silver price has been played over past 10 years.
But each to their own.

There's a comparison to be made there wouldn't you think ? Which is the better to buy & hold : FRES or HOC? ! Silly question on this thread I suppose !

Erik. if I can try and time my entry so that I buy when it's good value and already down by over 60% from the highs then losing 70% from that low entry point is a lot less likely hopefully.
But it's also down to if you think the company is solid as well and if the share price is just down due to the part of the economic cycle in which we are in, sector rotation always happens. (Which I do believe for fres.l).
Everything is a gamble but there's no harm in trying to get the odds more in your favour.
Time will tell.

Erick you only lose sleep if the loss of money affects your lifestyle in which case don’t buy shares as it’s a dangerous game.
and the best tip of all only gamble with what you can afford to lose that way you never lose any sleep at all.

Great day yesterday, first of many hopefully (a leap up, a tad of retracement, leap up, etc). With everything going on in the world, am prepared to stick by my initial target of 1000p by mid November guesstimate. Yesterday was very good for fres.l I think, apart from the actual share price rise, it's performance certainly put it right back on the radar for those who want to hedge against an unpredictable stock market. And with Rangold exiting the UK markets soon, fres.l will be the only real precious metal safety play in the FTSE100. Time will tell.

p.s. I am not clever enough to try and trade this share (or any other shares). I like to just buy into a share which I consider cheap and then leave it, personally I find it's far better for a relaxed state of mind and ability to sleep soundly ;)
