Penn Entertainment (NASDAQ:PENN) rose 3% amid a report that Flutter (FLUT) is interested in the interactive assets of Penn. Flutter pared some of an earlier gain amid the news.

Flutter (FLUT) may want to partner with Boyd Gaming (BYD) as the owner of FanDuel is interested in Penn's interactive assets, according to a report from TheDeal.com on Friday, which cited unidentified sources.

Alberta coming on board . Would be #8 market in North America. Feel like added markers will be slow until tribes in Cali are happy with a deal . FD now taking right approach with tribes there. Accept to follow not try to hammer a lead without them

Hi all, I asked Hargreaves Lansdown if I could buy Flutter shares registered in UK instead of Ireland (to save stamp duty). They replied: “We only have the one class of Flutter Entertainment shares on our platform, where the stock is domiciled in Ireland. This is indicated on the ISIN number IE00BWT6H894 as it starts with 'IE'. Therefore any purchases in this stock will always be subjected to the Irish Stamp Duty rates.

If you are aware of another class of this share that is domiciled elsewhere. Please confirm the ticker code or ISIN number to the stock so we can look into this further. If there is another class of this share we can submit a request using the ticker code or ISIN number to add them to our platform”.

I don’t really understand this side of things. Is it possible to buy flutter’s shares registered in UK (hence paying 0.5 instead of 1%)?

That’s a kind note vraetorian. Stock Chat forums seem fairly toxic in my experience so that note is much appreciated (I also greatly appreciate your explicit focus on the actual data - great to be reminded on what figures have been forecast prior to earnings releases).

Good to be proved wrong sometimes … keeps us humble. I hadn’t seen that article and that is very interesting to me (and to some extent addresses my concern on lack of reducing promo costs).

Here's the source (https): hxxps://next.io/news/jmp-fanduel-regrets-not-spending-more/
This was also reiterated during one results presentation if I remember correctly. They can use cash to pay back loans, pay dividends or buy back shares. Currently Flutter prefers investment back into the business. I took note of it because it's really rare for companies to operate this way.

Flutter has a goal to get the cost of sales down over time though.

Interesting LapouLiisa as I had the total opposite understanding ie that customer acquisition costs would be heavy in each state and they would seek to unwind them over time to improve earnings.

Rkeck: "I was hoping we would see a fall off in this expense as each market becomes a little more mature (hopefully stickier customers)."

The management has said that they regret not spending more on marketing. They see it as the best use of capital.

Blackhorse23 is known for jumping onto other stock chats and pumping his own holdings. He's been doing it for awhile. You can filter/block him, as most I imagine have already done.

Back to flutter.
Aug 13th is right around the corner. We should start seeing the share price bake-in the results before the announcement.

Estimates for Q2'24 for the different currencies are:
FLUT(NYSE)
Earnings(1.54)
Revenue (3.37B)

FLTR(LSE)
Earnings(1.22)
Revenue (2.67B)

Ah the penny has dropped. Just checking the chat forum on my 2nd biggest holding in a far smaller company in a completely different sector. I find ‘blackhorse217; recommending Rank group. Disappointing.

I hear you on the positive Rank numbers Blackhorse but for context, Flutter’s market cap has risen this morning considerably more than entire market cap of Rank Group. I just don’t think they are a relevant benchmark.

Strong numbers from NY, Ohio, Virginia & Colorado in May. May looking superb & all 4 weeks for NY in June up on last year.Comps up YoY as putting as handle up a general 30pc with new accounts still being added in decent numbers and existing helped along to stay on board. Proven strategy. NFL 'Sunday Ticket' changing viewing ability for upcoming season apparently allowing bars & clubs etc to screen as opposed to lesser minor pay cable access

These Ohio hold numbers again look strong for Fanduel but I keep being surprised at the level of Promo costs at most states relative to the same month last year. I was hoping we would see a fall off in this expense as each market becomes a little more mature (hopefully stickier customers).

It can take a while to get into S &P 500, so I wouldn't be waiting for this catalyst. Another irish Company that moved their listing to the US in September 2023 called CRH still hasn't made any US indexes, even though they meet all the criteria.
